Spoilers For Wednesday May 19th 2010
Well, at least there's the World Cup, is all I can say after last night's rubbish by the Terriers, but oh well. (Interestingly, has anyone seen Countdown's very own Jeff Stelling in that Carlsberg World Cup advert I wonder if it's his own chest )
But enough about that, let's get on with the show, with just 16 prelims left until the finals start on June 10, which is also just a day before the World Cup starts of course.
Danny Pledger remains the champ with 3 wins under his belt, a clean sweep of the week's proceedings should see him enter the finals, but the way this series has gone, if he lost today, it might surprise too many people.
Will Pledger clean up, or just bite the dust / (Take your pick.)

Simpler numbers...start the same as the contestans (7+8)x50 and they need to find 14 from 6, 3 and 4. 6x3-4 gives that result.

Re: Spoilers For Wednesday May 19th 2010
Again, what is Rachel doing for the 1st numbers?
Once the contestants had got to 750 with 50*(8+7), why can't she show them what they should have done is 6*3-4 for 14 rather than 6+4+3 for 13?
Makes so much more sense, and is so much more helpful than starting a completely new method. Grr.

Maybe she just didn't spot it, since she'd already solved it her own way.Matt Morrison wrote:Again, what is Rachel doing for the 1st numbers?

This. Just recently she said "I did it another way but I've just realised if you'd started it your method, then you could have just said...."Liam Tiernan wrote: Maybe she just didn't spot it, since she'd already solved it her own way.

Re: Spoilers For Wednesday May 19th 2010
Fucks sake. Haha... well pleased with my 594 but I've been beaten to it. Here you go anyway:
7x7 + 5x5 = 49 + 25 = 74, x8 = 592, +2 = 594
7x7 + 5x5 = 49 + 25 = 74, x8 = 592, +2 = 594

I did (4+9)x6x8-5-5. PYROMANIA was a hard conundrum in my opinion...took me about 29 seconds. Well done to the bloke in the audience.Liam Tiernan wrote:Brilliant final numbers solution from Rachel.

Re: Spoilers For Wednesday May 19th 2010
Just goes to show that they're only easy when you've got them! I got it within about 2 or 3 seconds - which is highly unusual for me as I am crap at conundrums! I, therefore, thought it was an easy one (I assume that any I get must be easy ones!).Kirk Bevins wrote:

Difficulty 8 on apterous, although the shuffle can have a big impact (what was it?).Karen Pearson wrote:Just goes to show that they're only easy when you've got them! Didn't get it at all, the Y threw me off and I spent most the 30 seconds trying for a -ARY end. Toughie indeedy.Kirk Bevins wrote:Liam Tiernan wrote:PYROMANIA was a hard conundrum in my opinion...took me about 29 seconds. Well done to the bloke in the audience.

Re: Spoilers For Wednesday May 19th 2010
How did she do it? I missed today's show but I got the numbers off someone else who watched it. I did ((5+4)*9-5)*8+6 (I think - that's from memory) in about 30 seconds or so.Matt Morrison wrote:S'what I was thinking.Liam Tiernan wrote:Brilliant final numbers solution from Rachel.
The second one I got in about 30 seconds as well (didn't time them). I did (7*7+5)*(8+5-2) I think. Is that what Rachel did?

Spent about 29 seconds with the Y at the end, then changed tack and got the answer about one second after the 30.Ryan Taylor wrote:Didn't get it at all, the Y threw me off and I spent most the 30 seconds trying for a -ARY end. Re numbers ... I'm not keeping tally, but is Rachel missing (m)any possibles these days? She does seem on awesome form.
