Spoilers For Thursday April 8th 2010
Are we seeing another potential octochamp in the making here, I wonder Peter's performance in the first half of yesterday's show, seemed to suggest he could definitely become a formidable opponent in the finals, should he make it.
I'll be recapping later, while the Star Trek duo of "Captain" Kirk Bevins and James Doohan make sure that all my mistakes are corrected.
Oh, and don't forget that Series 61 semi-finallist Ryan Taylor is on The Weakest Link at 5:15pm on BBC One, hoping to avoid a grilling from another member of the Robinson family.
P.S. I would like to point out that I am of no relation to Anne Robinson.

To be honest I couldn't give a shit about a tiny mistake, was hoping to give you a little bit of perspective considering your critiquing of Kai's re-cap the last evening, this kid has loads on his plate with school, schoolwork, football and all the other extra-curricular stuff he does that was listed in another thread, maybe you could cut the little guy some slack just.
Who really cares if he forgot a comma or whatever?

This. It seems as though Mr. Robinson gets great pleasure out of making people feel shit about their recaps as he is always correcting their mistakes but then basically slagging off Kai's recap was the last straw for me. Mind you, I've commented before on this sort of behaviour (a la Mr Reynolds) and I got told off for it.james doohan wrote:To be honest I couldn't give a shit about a tiny mistake, was hoping to give you a little bit of perspective considering your critiquing of Kai's re-cap the last evening, this kid has loads on his plate with school, schoolwork, football and all the other extra-curricular stuff he does that was listed in another thread, maybe you could cut the little guy some slack just.

Just a little slack James, Kai gives up a lot of his scarce free time to do this and harassing him about a misplaced whatever is pretty tiring. Nothing personal against you James, just ya'know.........the last evening kinda ticked a few people offKirk Bevins wrote:This. OK, if people think that I'm harassing Kai in any way over his recap on Monday, then I obviously apologise to Kai and everyone else who was offended by my comments.james doohan wrote:Just a little slack James, Kai gives up a lot of his scarce free time to do this and harassing him about a misplaced whatever is pretty tiring. My only thing was that Kai made a couple of basic errors on that recap, as well as his one the previous week, which could've been rectified by watching it again carefully, or by paying more attention. But, as we know, Kai, has a lot less time on his hands than most of us, as he is still at school, so doing the recap is probably near the bottom of his list of "important things to do".
I suppose my frustration was that I take so much delicate care with my recaps, because I actually care about them a lot, mainly because it's something I like to think I'm pretty good at, and when people do make elementary errors, it does annoy me slightly, as I like to do mine to as high a standard as I can.
Looking for mistakes is just something I do. I suppose it comes as second nature to me, it's something I obviously need to control a bit more, as it does obviously offend quite a few people on here.
I would also like to point out that I'm not a perfectionist, or deem myself to be perfect in any way, shape or form at all.

As James is so good at spotting mistakes, may I suggest that he proof reads all recaps and PM his findings to the recapper.

That's fine, I like constructive criticism. It shows that I have faults, which is never a bad thing to know, and it shows that I can improve.Charlie Reams wrote:We appreciate your dedication to good recaps, James. Consider this only constructive criticism.
Howard, I might have said I was one of the best, but at the moment, with the talent we've got, I'd say I'm probably in the top 6.Howard Somerset wrote:But you have claimed to be one of the best.James Robinson wrote:I would also like to point out that I'm not a perfectionist, or deem myself to be perfect in any way, shape or form at all.

The composer Susie referred to in R2, John TAVENER, has 7 letters in his surname.

She might have been referring to his predecessor

Re: Spoilers For Thursday April 8th 2010
In my defence, I didn't look at Wikipedia until I'd read your post. I didn't know the old guy's first name until now, and I suspect that when the "John" is added it's usually the modern one who's being talked about.Peter Mabey wrote:She might have been referring to his predecessor

As befits an important composer, the name "Taverner" is sometimes used as a name for musical ensembles specialising in Renaissance and Baroque music. One such, the Taverner Consort, visited Warwick University while I was there. The Students' Union, attempting to be cultural, did a review but committed a rather inevitable error by calling them "The Taverner's Consort".

I assumed the modern Taverner was more famous. Never heard of the old one.

I know people here love alternative numbers solutions, but I won't post the whole thing. I just thought it was amusing that where Rachel did 7*8+4, I did (7+8)*4.

I didn't see the episode either but assumed from Damian's Weezer reference that the answer must've been MALADROIT, so now I'm all like too.Ben Hunter wrote:Didn't catch the end of this episode but saw the Hash Pipe thing and thought the conundrum must've been hashpipes = shipshape but just saw the conundrum now and it was 'lymphatic', and now I'm all like

He did indeed get confused. No prizes for guessing what NEXT Thursday's conundrum is then.
My apologies for the spoiler. Kicking myself. As for the ITCHYPALM thing, i had it on Apterous about 18 months ago according to the game history, so i can't credit myself for that, it must have stuck in the mind somewhere. I hate you Reams.

Actually got the conundrum! Admittedly it took 65 seconds, but that's better than many for me.

Snap! I chuckled at that too, I had one of those brief "she's gonna do it my way... oh, no she's not... wait, has she gone wrong? Oh." moments.Gavin Chipper wrote:I know people here love alternative numbers solutions, but I won't post the whole thing. I just thought it was amusing that where Rachel did 7*8+4, I did (7+8)*4.
