You could record yourself reading the list out, save it as an mp3 and put it on your iPod (or whatever) to listen to in the gym. That might be easier to concentrate on and, as a bonus, would reduce the risk of major nerd alerts. ;)
THIS! I'm always in the gym and this is how I will beat him! :)

Inspired by Matt Bayfield's achievement in the Thread of Brag, could we have a "Top Multi-linguist" Statland page? Perhaps this would be just a sum of each player's highest standard 15 score in each of the available languages.

Ta-da. I've managed to grind my way up to 3rd without speaking any language competently except English (and that's arguable).

Brilliant - I throughly approve of this statshot! I'll have to see if I can pick up a few cheap points in Russian, Italian and Spanish and see how long I can stay in the top 3!

Well done to Mr AI on top spot...

No CSW? :( Also, if you upload the TWL lexicon I sent you a while back, you can have a similar page but exlusively in English-language dictionaries. :)

Indeed. Could you use a different way of dividing the letters? Voiced and unvoiced for example?

Why the addition of the flag? It is really off-putting. Staring at the letters, my eyes see a colourful flag and aren't focussing as much as they used to. Maybe I'll get used to it but I suggest only putting the flags as backgrounds when the language ISN'T English. If it is English, keep it white. This should keep everyone happy.

Perhaps this is another bizarre request but Ill put it forward anyway.

I would like lexplorer to tell me the probability of the word i am currently looking at appearing in a game, relative to the most common word of that length. So when you look up a word on lexplorer you can quickly judge weather it is worth knowing or not by the probability rating it has. This would also team up nicely with a "random word" button in lexplorer which lets you specify a word length and probability interval, and then takes you to any random word in the databse fitting thos criteria (a bit like the random page button on wikis).

I'm asking, because judging from this pageyou already have made the gadget which calculate probabilites of words relative to each other, so it would be nice to get another use out of it.

It's a subliminal advert for the BNP. Next it will be Nick Griffin's face faded on the letter tiles. I think white for English should be fine. The Union flag doesn't put me off but it does look ugly.

That was my idea too (or something similar) but I haven't read up enough on the phonetics yet. Also I thought I had a Hebrew lexicon but actually I don't, so I'd need to find one of those too.

I was wondering about this when I sent Charlie the flags but, as it's his application, I thought I'd let him decide on its inclusion. Maybe the flags could be optional (selected in Settings).

Could Alecs idea be put into action? Not a fan of the flags so having the option of hiding them in the settings would be good

I agree with the previous comments about having a plain background for English as these are by far the vast majority of games played and keep the other flags for the much less played other language variants.

Our Irish/American/etc... friends may agree with me!

Fair enough in the usual situation I suppose. I should have been clearer that there were a few times tonight when logging in and out a lot that I was wanting to do save the games until later when everything has settled down a bit, or when my opponent had appeared and it was tough enough to get one game window to work properly.

I was also getting two copies of the same game at times as well, but I suspect that's more to do with a backlog of game open/kill messages getting through to the server or whatever.

One thing i've noticed, which is trivial but still a change, is that when you solve the conundrum, it just goes off the screen now and ends the game. Also, in Hyper, the DC words on the score interface......sometimes if you leave the mouse arrow over the words, it shows you all the different alternatives when there are several of them, but if there are only 2 or 3, you have to maximise the game window in order to see them. Sorry if this sounds picky, they are just observations. Also, if you have a player 'muted', shouldn't this mean that they can't incessantly invite you to play them out of wilful annoyance?

Particularly in light of Happenings being dominated right now by loads of nameless nominations for Dale's high score game, I wonder if the text for GOTW nominations ought to be changed from:

Image Innis Carson's 134-170 game
with Dale Levell received a
nomination for Game of the Week.

to:

Image Ian Volante nominated
Innis Carson 134-170 Dale Levell
for Game of the Week.

or something similar. Makes Happenings read a lot better, but too many links? Hmm.

Just wondered if you could put a cap on the length of words generated by the 'words using...' tab in Lexplorer? Or an option to cap it. Right now it prints too many words because it uses the hyperdictionary, and it stops at 100 words. It'd be nice to type in say a seven letter word and see all the eights and nines that contain it.

Wondering if it would be possible to have a further breakdown of the most common words section in statland by number of vowels/ consonants.

So, for example when you look at the list of most common nines you can make it show only the most common nines with 3, 4 or 5 vowels. Because nines are most common in 4 vowel selections, and people most frequently pick 4 vowels, the whole list of most common nines only contains one selection which isnt 4 vowels (SERTPLIAN). So this feature would be great as a way to learn some nines which dont have 4 vowels but are still likely to come up, as well of course as words of shorter length with an irregular vowel/consonant ratio.
