Countdown Recap 12th March 2002
I do not have the episode to view but did find my notes regarding this set of mini finals whilst seacrching for other Countdowny things for the Forum/Group.
C4 Horse Racing took over the afternoon slot and Countdown had to make way for the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Programme organisers allowed Countdown to fill a 30 minute slot in the viewing schedule and held a 9 round tournament featuring four youngsters.
The first semi final featured Bruce Lambert aged 14 and Perry Fung aged 11. Perry won 45-26.
The second semi final featured Andrew Hulme aged 13 and Amey Deshpande aged 12. Andrew won this contest 66-44.
Amey went on to make Countdown history in other series. Perry became the youngest ever winner of a Scrabble Tournament of any division at the age of 8 going onto to win the second series of TV Scrabble (series of which is repeated ad-infinitum early in the mornings on Virgin 1!). After which he seems to have disappeared.
Of Bruce and Andrew nothing is known. On then, to the show...

Apart from the small matter of Andrew being #1 seed in the current series, obviously.szodiac wrote: Of Bruce and Andrew nothing is known. On then, to the show...

Yes ! Point yourself to http://apterous.org/cdb/recapwriter.php?format=9 ; it's fairly self-explanatory but there's a Help File on the page for handling things like disallowed words.Andrew Hulme wrote:Meh, not that I know how I could recap the other two games in this competition Charlie if these games count in ur efforts to have a complete database?
