That result means that Steve Wood will be gracing the finals in a couple of weeks. Who will be the 8th

Any one who becomes an octochamp within the next 15 days will be in the top 8. Will Jennifer be that 8th octochamp

Wait and see......

I expect pureed kiwi fruit is available commercially, even if only in smoothies and fruit drinks.Marc Meakin wrote:What about kiwi fruitSue Sanders wrote:Hmmm. Chinese crispy seaweed is made from a type of lettuce.
I drifted off.Kirk Bevins wrote:TONNEAUS as a beater in round 4 but better still NANOTUBES for 9.
I thought today's anecdote was a bit rubbish. Why go through all that history for one fact about a pub's name. Hmmm.

Well done. Thought you'd misspelled it at first. Good spot.Phil Makepeace wrote:Got there for R9.Phil Makepeace wrote:AEGROTATS?
Yeah same here, was hoping the A would appear. I think Jennifer was looking for it too. Hopefully Jennifer will make it to the quarters.Kirk Bevins wrote:Was screaming for a final A for PECULIARS in that last round. 3 nines meant I managed 151 points --- sexy letters today matched by an attractive champion.
Rather more obviously, kiwi fruit is sold in cans.Sue Sanders wrote:I expect pureed kiwi fruit is available commercially, even if only in smoothies and fruit drinks.Marc Meakin wrote:What about kiwi fruit
Yep - that was spotted in this house too.Phil Reynolds wrote:Did anyone else notice that Paul declared CROUTS in round 7 which Susie accepted even though it's not a word. Rachel put GROUTS up on the board so presumably both she and Susie misheard him, but watch it back on 4oD - it's not even indistinct - he quite clearly says "crouts".
Thought the max today was only 150, but who am I to argue with the Kirkulator? (For the record, I have the round-by-round maxes as 6,8,6,18,10,7,7,6,18,10,8,18,8,10,10.)Kirk Bevins wrote:Was screaming for a final A for PECULIARS in that last round. 3 nines meant I managed 151 points --- sexy letters today matched by an attractive champion.
I was hoping that an alternative spelling would be allowed once the other E appeared.Kirk Bevins wrote:Was screaming for a final A for PECULIARS in that last round.
Haha you're quite right, I had to turn the page between rounds 10 and 11 and I miscopied. I went from 96 points to 106 points. What a cheat I am. Missed the max in round 13 but when DC said "we have an 8" I was like "ah damn - EPICURES".Mike Brown wrote: Thought the max today was only 150, but who am I to argue with the Kirkulator? We clearly noticed it in the studio as well - I think to completely avoid an accusation of racism for the word (even though the spelling was completely wrong) there may have been an accidental on purpose "mis-hearing".Phil Reynolds wrote:Did anyone else notice that Paul declared CROUTS in round 7 which Susie accepted even though it's not a word. Surely if that was the case, there'd have been a retake and they'd have asked him to offer a completely different invalid word. Or maybe I'm wrong.Jennifer Bett wrote:We clearly noticed it in the studio as well - I think to completely avoid an accusation of racism for the word (even though the spelling was completely wrong) there may have been an accidental on purpose "mis-hearing".
Then again, I'm only speculating - maybe I'm wrong.
