Countdown Recap - Wednesday the 26th August, 2009
Sponsored by Ibuleve gel - effective relief from a pain in the back, brought to you by this pain in the arse
Champion (C1): Ed Rossiter (1 win, 105 points) a bar manager from Southampton, who is a seasoned Scrabble player - in 2008 he was #21 in the national rankings. The person he would most like to meet is Jeff Stelling - well there's not much chance of that!
Challenger (C2): Adam Haward, also from Southampton, who can juggle up to five balls at once - but can he juggle nine tiles into an 18-pointer? Time will tell!
DC: Susie Dent and 'Police, Camera, Alastair Stewart'
RR: Rachel Riley, whose yellowy green numbers is reminiscent of our old living room curtains
OT: Other words, solutions and incomprehensible tripe to fill the page up

Philpot's final thought:
A tight game all the way with some excellent spots made by both players - Ed was unlucky to declare the Scrabble-only sozins^ and run out of time on the second numbers, but even so with the fantastic IGNORERS in round 11 and a great solve on round 14 he stopped Adam at the final hurdle - a sweet victory, for sure! Just how many games can Ed win? Tune in tomorrow - same Countdown time, same Countdown channel!

Damn, you're too quick!
I think you forgot to press Find automatically for Rd 3 as TERAPHIM is there, and also the conundrum was in 0. apparently, but otherwise great.
(When do I get a turn?)
EDIT: Also, wasn't it Adam Howard?

Would you like to do next week's, Kai? I only did this one as I was unsure whether you would be, and I detest doing recaps from 4oD.Kai Laddiman wrote:Damn, you're too quick!

Thanks also for the corrections - I wish the recap writer conundrum time box would support more than two characters, as if I am trying to show a contestant's speed I am always forced to enter "0." and then come back to it - and, as the above recap proves, sometimes I forget! I suppose it also helps prevent typos and 111 second conundrums and such, so swings and roundabouts. I wouldn't overly criticise such a fantastic tool.
But sure Kai, you're up next week if you'd like. Just let me know by PM if you can't.

OK, I think I'm up for it. But seriously, you'd posted the wikicap before the programme had finished! Insane, dude.Chris Philpot wrote:But sure Kai, you're up next week if you'd like. Just let me know by PM if you can't.
EDIT: Sorry to be a pain, but you've got to increase the maxes in every round from Rd 3.
