Re: Spoilers for thursday 23rd July
Derek, RAMATE is not valid. There was a D so DILATES is fine for round 13. This was almost the same as another round yesterday but I couldn't believe round 7 was exactly the same as yesterday (NSTNEAEPH) so I knew there was just one 8 (HEPTANES) which DC got yesterday. I was watching with my mate and said DC would get it - and they missed it! Shocking.
I had a DC beater in the next round in OUTSINGS but missed GOUTINESS as already has been mentioned. BORONIA too in round 2 as Chris said. I missed ACCENTOR though, damn.
By the way, Rachel's late solution to 442 was bloody awesome.

Damn, I seldom get the chance to play at home (which explains why I never get any better despite years of watching).Kirk Bevins wrote:Derek, RAMATE is not valid . . . but I couldn't believe round 7 was exactly the same as yesterday (NSTNEAEPH) so I knew there was just one 8 (HEPTANES) which DC got yesterday. To be fair, I think DC were playing without any "upstairs help" today, so they can be excused for missing some things, and would also explain how I came even close on some rounds.

You get a feel for these things when you've been watching a long time; don't you Charlie?Charlie Reams wrote:What makes you say that?
Or perhaps it's just like that feeling Kirk gets when a glass moves and nobody seems to be pushing it.

1st numbers: (9x9x10+75-1)/2 = 442. Out of time though. Also PRONAOI in round 2.

I got GOUTINESS and HEPTANES, but didn't risk the valid ACCENTOR. I got 123 today - not bad. Annoyed at missing LORIMERS though.

Re: Spoilers for thursday 23rd July
Isn't it annoying at times when you see a word appearing on the letters selection and then the last letter isn't the one you want? That happens to me so many times.
I only say that because in the HEPTANES round, if the last letter was an L, you could have got ELEPHANTS for 9

What are the chances of exactly the same letters selection appearing two days in a row? I'm sure one of you stats boffins can work it out.....

I just came on to post just this as I forgot to post this yesterday. Damian had GIRLIEST^ disallowed on apterous and seemed surprised. Indeed, an odd omission.Michael Wallace wrote:Danger danger - DC allowed GIRLIEST, which isn't specified. Quelle horreur!
