Podcast 7: Jono Rides Again

Post by Charlie Reams »

Despite numerous technical difficulties, chronic laziness and the plunging value of the pound, we finally got round to recording a new episode of the podcast. If you'd like to listen to the results, download your copy today! The sound quality is a bit better than previous editions. We also recorded massively too much and Jono has removed some of the boring bits by playing his homespun podcast jingles, but it's so seemless you'll probably hardly notice. Ahem.

Enjoy!

It says a lot that you got on to giving a reasonably hefty plug for Summer Heights High. Puck you, Charlie.

I just tried listening to this at work, and when I plugged the earphones in it resulted in my only hearing Charlie's voice, with big silent gaps inbetween!
Useful if you're a fan of Charlie, but not JonO I suppose.

Thought it was ok

Wished there was some discussion about 'Witchergate' though rather than the small allusion to it

I loved the saw wave rendition of the Countdown music, especially how the last chord rang out dramatically for ages

I always like listening to the podcasts.
But tell me, are you using the word "like" much more these days?

I want that countdown theme tune rendition as a ring tone.

I'm guessing "seemless" is related to "unseemly" somehow.

Yeah I figured it was ambiguous, a total bait since Charlie doesn't make mistakes ...... ever.

"Do you know any evil scientists?"

-"Probably, I know some who don't pay adequate tax"

LOL!

This is my first podcast and it just reminded me of earwigging in Charlie's conversations at CoC.

Liked the Northern Irish accent and Charlies pitiful attempt to pronounce Eoin Monaghan.

Similarly, i listened to the first half on my pc, but decided to make another coffee so plugged it into my stereo so i could hear it with the kettle on, and suddenly, Charlie was on the left and Jon was on the right. Very nice.

About the racism comments... was this part of the joke 'I can't do the black woman voice' or were you just being racist Charlie?

If that's the case, I think you'll find your stereo speakers are connected up the wrong way round.

The sound quality is certainly better this time around, but as with previous podcasts I find that Charlie's voice is much louder than Jono's, so if I turn up the volume to the point where I can comfortably hear Jono, Charlie's voice is so loud that it distorts.

If Charlie was being racist, it makes sense that he was on the right.

Thanks for that Phil. I was going to make some joke about me standing on my head but it wouldn't have been funny anyway, so i just connected em properly! You're right tho, Charlie's voice was a decent bit louder.

If you play with the balance setting you can presumably have them both at the same loudness without distortion.

I was about to reply saying that my PC speakers don't have a balance setting, but I've just discovered that I can adjust the individual speaker volumes via Control Panel -> Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices -> Change the speaker settings so huzzah. This revelation has almost inspired me to listen to the podcast again. But not quite.

This was number 7! I think you've listened to the same one twice!

I enjoyed the consumately professional beginning.... 'Welcome to.... ooh, hang on'

It was maybe a little bit too long. About say, half an hour too long - but I'd listen again!

We might do a completely OT one while there's no Countdown on our screens, depends if I can persuade Jono.

I thought it was cool (and liked my mention), eventhough it seems I've got a reputation for being a serial moaner!

The Q&A with a Countdown 'legend', sounds like a good idea for future broadcasts.

When will the next one be?

While I like these podcasts, I probably would prefer them to be a bit more structured sometimes. Random rubbish is fine, but I think it's best if there's other stuff as well. Actually it's probably only this one - this others probably have been more structured.

Edit - Acutally I quite like a sort of abstract at the beginning, mentioning some of the topics to be discussed. "Today an in-depth discussion of the posting habits of Jason Larsen."
