I think a certain Damian Eadie appeared on the show before Ben. Which is just as well, as it might surprise you to learn that the decision is his regardless of what we say.

Yeah, but Damian doesn't post on here as much as Ben, ergo Ben outranks him. Plus Ben organises all sorts of real-life Countdown tournaments. What the fuck has Damian done for the show lately?

I'd like to see Kai on one of these shows!

And you're welcome for my complement, Dan.

Tbf, this should really have its own slot on CBBC. Junior school aged kids only. Maybe on just before Grange Hill.

And Jon, Grange Hill is canceled. Are they still showing reruns of it?

Lee, speaking of your time on Countdown, Kate was going to look for your first appearance for me (the episode when Des O'Connor read my e-mail on the air,) but since they've moved I think they've losst the archives. I just thought I would let you know that.

I was on in June 2001, 5 months before Ben. So if that gives me decison-making powers, I'm in! :)

Ben can pick the other 9.

Oh, how nice to hear from you David! Your name rings a bell, but I'd obviously never bothered to look you up. An impressive list of wins before the 15-round format!

Sounds like a fair deal to me though. ;)

Its not very PC but an autistic spectrum knockout tournament would be good. The further down the spectrum you are, the higher your seeding. Mouthwatering.

I've only just spotted this thread - apparently the sodding great "PLEASE READ" in the title passed me by.

Could I add my name in for consideration, perhaps a rematch of my one and only game, or just as a former youngish contestant who is now slightly more grown up (and still remarkably poor at Countdown, if I'm honest!)?

Could you please explain why this game would be so good? I think these contestants go back to before i was a real fan.
As no one else has answered, Amey was allowed back on the show twice, but Joseph didn't think this was fair and complained quite vocally about it. Ever since then, people have ribbed him about this. This is why they are saying Amey should be allowed to return yet again, but this time allowing Joseph's first return too, so that he could play him.

Oh right. The Wiki makes it look like your 2nd and 3rd episodes were part of the same appearance. Amusingly I've just noticed that you were the person who knocked Amey out on his 2nd appearance though! You kept your tongue in your cheek over that one.

Oh yeah. I forgot TBH. Yes you quite rightly read the episode 2 and 3 were part of the same appearance in the junior special (along with Amey and 2 other lads). What u weren't to know about is the recording i did a couple of weeks ago which obviously has not yet appeared on the wiki! :D

D Eadie wrote:We're looking into the possibility of making some special stand-alone 30-min editions of Countdown in a few weeks time, possibly June 17th - the idea being these are aired at a later time of day during the back end of August.

Toying with the possibility of Goat Conundrums, putting different numbers on the 4 Large cards, and generally spicing up the gameplay a little, just for a week, just for 5 shows. Maybe even a numbers game special whereby some of you whizzkids take on Rachel etc. Am sure you get the drift.

Anyway, not really possible to do any of this without contestants, so if anyone is interested in theory, then please add your name to this thread or email me at damian.eadie@granadamedia.com

Only 5 shows, so no need for the purists to start worrying about the normal 45-min edition. Bear in mind that 5 shows equals 10 contestants, and not everyone will come from this forum, so don't feel maligned or upset if you're not asked.

Cheers
Damian ;)

Just scanned this lot after a week away, so I'll stake my claim for "seniority".

I tend to think it's a mistake to go back. Scott Mearns, for example. The reaction so far has rather blown the notion of extracting a fee.

I think it depends on how much you've got to lose and how much you care about your playing record. Scott was previously unbeaten so he risked more assuming he did care, which I think he probably did.

Is anything happening with these specials? I thought I'd put it back up the pecking order for discussion. I'm just curious for 2 reasons.

1. I've applied by e-mail to Damian, although by looking at the other people who have applied, I'd probably be in for a pasting.

2. Even if I'm not going to be on it, I'm in the audience on June 17th anyway! (That's assuming it is on June 17th.)

So, it's a win-win for me, however it goes!

Quick update, we had to cancel a block of recordings last week, so our schedules are all pretty much up in the air at the moment, so as a result its unlikely we'll do these specials in the coming weeks, but we do know who's put their name in the frame and will act on it accordingly if need be.

Cheers peeps.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it was true. Although it's no "dead-certain" proof, Kirk wasn't on the forum at any time yesterday, which is very strange...

What makes me think that he was involved in one of those specials :?: :?

Kirk simply had a nice day out yesterday. He got up early, about 6:33am and walked to the gym. He likes to go early in the morning so he can watch all the old people work out. He is often surprised by the lack of young workers, working out, before work. After his trip to the gym he went home and his internet had crashed. Mystery solved.

I'm regularly in the Fire Service HQ gym before 6.00am prior to starting my early shift at 7.00am. Does that mean I can now officially be called an old git?
