The finals (22 - 23 April) are being recorded in Leeds, and will be the last programme of any kind recorded in those studios.

Doesn't that make it an extremely short series? Or are we in for an awful lot of cricket?

I think it's the 21st and 22nd actually. But same difference.
And Rosemary, they won't be shone until sometime in June, I think, so the series is still as long as usual.

There will only be 4 shows a week for a week or two at the end of March/early April due I think to racing.

No more racing or anything else this series now, Richard. We're on every day.

Thanks for the reassurance, Damien, I just hope there is a solution which is comfortable for all concerned. I'm wondering how Richard Whiteley would have reacted to all this. His life and home was obviously in or around Leeds.

Oh dear, I seem to have gone onto the wrong thread but, hey ho, we all know the problems of the Leeds studios. I just thanked Damien for his reassurance that Countdown will not come to a sad end.

Oh, I thought somebody said that was why only 4 shows a day were being filmed when I came up last month.

No, Damian!

I've been assured that everything is going to be ok, but the rest of you... I don't know!

Oops, Charlie, I thought it was Damien with an e. Thanks for putting me right. It's actually Damian's fault for using D. Eadie in his title!! However, that's a very small problem compared with the closure of the studios in Leeds. I just hope there's a solution for all concerned.

Am not bothered how you spell my name. Everyone calls me Dame, or Damo, so the last vowel doesnt really matter, unless you're calling me a twit.......

Nobody has bumped this thread in a very long time!

So, Sweet Lara? Great Kate? Clever Damian? Make those hugs and handshakes that I would give you all if I met you in real life worth it! It's getting late! I thought you would have made your decision by now!

(Sorry, I have been feeling very down lately. I have not been watching Countdown on a regular basis like I have been. I thought I would get this off my chest before it shows my pervasiveness a lot more. I know change can be good, but it can take a long time for me to get used to it. Kate, I don't have to tell you that because I know that you know who knows that already. This concludes my apology.)

The Lancashire [Evening] Telegraph is advertising a coach tour to Granada studios to see Countdown recorded on 12th May. Is that the first day of filming?
