Kirk certainly seems to be rapidly improving, that's for sure.

Wow, I wouldn't call that a quality game. It was quite tight but a lot of the rounds were flat. I can't believe I had SHAMS in round 1 and was SHAMAS away from another max game.Charlie Reams wrote:Quality game between an established expert and a rapidly improving new player: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=28634

Was pretty pleased with this one especially round 12. 4th highest Speedgoat of all time http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=28739 Would have been highest (and possibly closest max to metamax) if Ian had received my psychic urge to pick another C for COMPACTED!
Re: Game of the Week nominations: 23 Feb - 1 March
Nice one. 5 out of 6 nines on your own pick is probably a record, even if one was unintentional.Dinos Sfyris wrote:Was pretty pleased with this one especially round 12. 4th highest Speedgoat of all time http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=28739 Would have been highest (and possibly closest max to metamax) if Ian had received my psychic urge to pick another C for COMPACTED!

Maybe it's because I've rarely played hyper, but don't you think this is fudging amazing?!

That's a regular game of Countdown so, er, no.Jimmy Gough wrote:Maybe it's because I've rarely played hyper, but don't you think this is fudging amazing?!
Edit: You've since changed the link to an actual hyper numbers attack - it was a game from Amey Deshpande only seconds ago. Hmmm

Got my first speed 9 max game, against Mr Eadie nonetheless.

Much as I appreciate being bigged up and all, but that's one of my most awful Hyper Numbers Attacks ever. It disappointed me.Jimmy Gough wrote:Not sure what I did there! I meant JB's game . I think you mean "no less". Better to stick to words of 9 letters or fewer in future I think.Kirk Bevins wrote:Got my first speed 9 max game, against Mr Eadie nonetheless.

Surely it doesnt matter who you are up against, if you get a max score, nobody can affect it, unless they distract you with obscene comments in the chat area. I might have to do that next time.
Seriously though, that was very impressive and of course nothing i can do to stop your score, but i was slightly disgraced in only scoring about 20 myself. The speed rounds are too much for me at the moment, i'm so rusty i cannot tell you. Am starting to think that as i approach my 40th birthday, that i'm past it for good. I have two options - one is to swat and be a nerd and really play for hours each week, or the other is to sit down, analyze my grey pubic hair, beer gut and crows feet, and accept that i'm a washed up nothing. The similarities with myself and Christopher Biggins are uncanny.

Haha I'm really no good with words. Even ones less than 9 letters I don't know what half of them mean, and even if I did I'd need to learn sentence structure and grammar.Charlie Reams wrote:

I feel I deserve some kind of sympathy award for the most painful miss yet in my campaign to get a Speed 9 max.

Here's another with Jono and me. Not a bad game considering each round was just 3 seconds long.

I have a ceanothus in my garden and it never occurred to me until now that that was how to spell it.Dinos Sfyris wrote:CEANOTHUS...OUGIYAS...Unbelievable!Kirk Bevins wrote:Lots of lovely words and 9s amongst this lot:

I might as well post this: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=30414
I don't think it beats what's come before it.

If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

Not that good overall TBH, but a new PB for me and some nice words.
