I asked ChatGPT to do a Bayesian probability thing on this and it came up with 83.5% to 99.8% chance of a conspiracy. It did a bit of a disclaimer afterwards but ChatGPT is never wrong.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 9:06 pm I wasn't sure whether to put this here on in the conspiracy theory thread (if there is one).
You're probably aware that this billionaire Mike Lynch has gone missing after the yacht he was on sank. He was also in the news recently after being tried in America over some alleged fraud (dodgy extradition laws - separate story), but he got found not guilty and complained about having to be rich to clear his name. It seems a bit of a coincidence but maybe not enough to raise suspicions that much. But then it was in the news today that his co-defendant in the trial, Stephen Chamberlain, has been hit and killed by a car while out running.
It all now adds up to more than a bit of a coincidence. Maybe we could try and work out the most likely cause of this chain of events using some sort of mathematical process. By the way, the name of the yacht is the Bayesian.

Having done the Doddington Hall parkrun on the day of COLIN, I went on my Sunday long run the day after. I decided in advance to do 18km and just run to Doddington Hall and along the path the parkrun uses until I hit 9km and go back. The turnaround point was basically exactly the same place as the turnaround point for the parkrun.

Re: Coincidence
Me and Jono did Raphael parkrun in Romford before COLON yesterday (well Jono didn't do COLON) and there was an Adam Gillard in the results. Not the Adam Gillard it would appear though (unless he has more than one profile, runs on Saturdays etc.).
Re: Coincidence
This is not really a coincidence, but it is a good story that I thought I would share.
At the start of last summer, one of my cousins was out playing with his dog, throwing a tennis ball to it. At one point, the ball went behind a tall fence. My cousin thought he was up to scaling the fence, so decided to climb over to get the ball. Unfortunately, he got his wedding ring caught at the top and fell, ripping about 80% of his finger off. He was able to retrieve his finger, but not the wedding ring.
2 days later, he was due for surgery to amputate his finger. Unfortunately, they were unable to reattach the finger. I don't quite know why the terminology was amputate, as the finger was already off, but they had to tidy up nerves and cauterise the wound etc.
That morning, I was on the phone to my mum to see how the surgery was going, but it had to be delayed. It was then that my mum told me about my uncle (also my cousin's uncle, not his dad). My uncle decided to go to the fence where the incident took place, to retrieve my cousin's wedding ring. He had to climb over the fence to go and get it. However, he didn't bother to take off his wedding ring, because what are the chances the same thing would happen to him?
Well, obviously the same thing did happen to him. Wedding ring caught and for him, close to 100% of his finger ripped off. We had a couple of family wedding last summer, so there are a few good photos of them both posing with missing fingers.
Not necessarily coincidence, but a good anecdote nevertheless.
