On this in 1776 the declaration of independence was signed and declared in the United States of America. It is a federal holiday and is celebrated every year with fireworks ,parades ,political speeches, family gatherings and reunions barbecues and fairs.
It is one of the busiest travel periods in the US as many people use it as a 3 day holiday or an extended vacation.
