Hello countdowners and welcome to another recap, today is national black cat day in honour of these beautiful kitties I will be posting some cute pictures of these beautiful mini panthers

Image

Image

As Halloween is in 4 days some people consider black cats to be bad luck.......that is not true as my first cat was a mini panther called Jazz !

Image

What countdown recap would not be complete with mentioning the best cat daddy ever the late great Freddie Mercury and his beautiful kitties

Round 1: B R Q W R A I E A

Lewis: BARER (5)
Jordan: WARE/WEAR (4) *Thornhill was not asked to spell his word in Round 1 and both homophones are thus listed here.
DC: WARIER (6)
OT: BARWARE (7)
Score: 5–0 (max 7)

A 5 from Lewis to kick off the days proceedings........DC get to shine with their 6 Warier.......but there is a 7 hidden away with Barware giving us our first Darren of the day !!

Image

Round 2: D Y L I O E R F I

Lewis: FOILED (6)
Jordan: FRIED (5)
DC: FLORID (6) RIFLED (6)
OT: FIERILY (7)

Round 3: 100, 25, 50, 2, 5, 9. Target: 449.

Lewis: 450. 100 × 5 − 50 (7)
Jordan: 450. 50 × 9 (7)
RR: 449. 50 × 9 − (5 − 100 ÷ 25) (10)
Score: 18–7 (max 24)

A good 1 away solution that bags our contestants another 7 points.......but Rachel shows us how it is done........but I came up with an alternative solution

100/25=4
50+5=55
55*4=220
220*2=440
440+9=449

Image

Teatime teaser: TOMOILED -> DOLOMITE

Round 4: H T N A I O T S U

Lewis: TAINTS (6)
Jordan: STUNT (5)
DC: OUTHITS (7) STATION (7)
OT: TITANOUS (8)
Score: 24–7 (max 32)

Lewis goes further ahead with his 6 Taints........but DC get to shine with their 7s..........but there is a big 8 ignored by all Titanous

Image

Round 5: G N R T R I E I A

Lewis: RETIRING (8)
Jordan: RETIRING (8)
DC: RETIRING (8)
OT: GRAINIER (8) IRRIGATE (8) RERATING (8)
Score: 32–15 (max 40)

A lovely selection of letters.......there are plenty of 8s not a lot to complain about !!

Round 6: 25, 1, 10, 8, 5, 9. Target: 135.

Lewis: 131.
Jordan: 135. 25 × 5 + 10 (10)
Score: 32–25 (max 50)

An unfortunate miss from our Champion Lewis.....but our challenger Jordan gets its and bags himself another 10 points and puts him back in the contest ! I had an alterrnative solution without the use of 25

10+5=15
15*9=135

Again using the LNAFP method !

Round 7: N M P Z C O E A E

Lewis: MENACE (6)
Jordan: ENCAMP (6)
DC: PACEMEN (7)
OT: ZAMPONE (7)
Score: 38–31 (max 57)

Image

Round 8: S R M L U O U N E

Lewis: ENROLS (6)
Jordan: SERMON (6)
DC: NUMEROUS (8)
Score: 44–37 (max 65)

6s from our champion and challenger...........but DC get to shine with their 8

Round 9: 100, 75, 25, 5, 6, 4. Target: 327.

Lewis: 326. 100 × 4 − 75 + 6 − 5 (7)
Jordan: 326. 100 × 4 − 75 + 6 − 5 (7)
RR: 327. 100 + 5 + 4) × 75 ÷ 25 (10)
Score: 51–44 (max 75)

Teatime teaser: NOTBOWED -> BENTWOOD

Round 10: P S L I E I T L S

DC: PITILESS (8)
OT: ELLIPSIS (8) SPILITES (8)
Score: 59–44 (max 83)

Round 11: T G X S H A E E O

Lewis: GHOST (5)
Jordan: HOSTAGE (7)
DC: GOATEES (7)
OT: OXGATES (7)
Score: 59–51 (max 90)

Image

Our champion can only manage a scary 5 with Ghost which is appropriate as Halloween is in 4 days....or the tear-jeaker from 1990 which I cried at !!! but Jordan gets a 7 that puts him back in the contest !!!

Image

Round 12: G V K U E I N F U

Lewis: FINE (4)
Jordan: KING (4)
DC: FUNGI (5) KNIFE (5)
OT: FEUING (6)
Score: 63–55 (max 96)

4s all round from our contestants.......in this nasty selection of letters DC get to shine with their 5........but there is a 6 hidden away....Feuing

Image

Round 13: B C P S T E A I M

Lewis: BAPTISM (7)
Jordan: BAPTISM (7)
DC: BAPTISE (7) BAPTISM (7) PACIEST (7) CAMPIEST (8)
OT: CAMPSITE (8)
Score: 70–62 (max 104)

Our contestants are having a baptism of fire with their 7........but there are 2 8s hidden away that was spotted by DC, myself and Rachel

Round 14: 100, 7, 9, 8, 2, 3. Target: 133.

Lewis: 133. (9 + 2) × 3 + 100 (10)
Jordan: 133. (9 + 2) × 3 + 100 (10)
Score: 80–72 (max 114)

Top marks in the numbers deparment which sets us up nicely for a crucial conundrum.........Meanwhile there is another method

9+2=11
11+8=19
19*7=133

Using the LNAFP method !!

Round 15: M A I N U N C L E

No one buzzes. The answer was LUMINANCE.
Final Score: 80–72 (max 124)

Image

One again the counundrum is unsolved by our contestants.............it is left to certain Rachel Riley to solve it........another closely fought game for Lewis, but take nothing away from Jordan he had some good spots but the will perfectly happy with his goody bag.......in the meantime bye for now !
