Challenger Steve Hyde previously won two games in Series 51, with scores of 93 and 97. He lost his 3rd game 92-93 to Andy Page, the first champion of Mastermind in the John Humphrys era.

BRITCHES now allowed of course, although it used to just be considered a misspelling of BREECHES. A search on the wiki only finds it disallowed once (by Scrabble World Champion Brett Smitheram), although I'm sure I remember a woman having it disallowed once. It's possible round details aren't available for that particular game, or I misremembered, or the wiki search isn't the oracle I thought it was.

BRITCHES is not really a misspelling at all, just an alternative spelling of BREECHES because the former was how the British said it; it was disallowed in 1997 because BRITCHES was not an independent word at the time. It only appeared in the entry "little britches".

Also, I think you’re misremembering. ;)
