Stu is playing a blinder, and I'd say the response to his demeanour and personality has probably been v. positive.
Though, on the negative side, he is fast earning a reputation as a crusher of children's hopes and dreams! :o

Scareder in R4 - if scared is one syllable as it's not specified?

Not valid. There is a dubious exemption to the mono-syllable adjective rule to entries ending in -ED, like PAINED, BORED, HORNED, DAMNED among others. I think for an adjective with one syllable ending with -ED, the -EDER and -EDEST entries would have to be specified. DEADEST has been allowed multiple times but ends in -AD rather than -ED.

Ah. Thanks for clarifying. I do agree with the exemption in the adjectives you list which have an N before the ED, they do sound wrong with ER added. But in the case of BORED, (and SCARED), the R in that position instead makes them sound less clumsy, at least to me. If that's the rule though!

Not sure it's a rule. Apterous tends to disallow -EDER and -EDEST words but I've not ever seen any evidence from the show as far as I'm aware.

Hence “dubious”. You’ve also good GOOD which is BETTER and BEST rather than gooder x and goodest x, and NTH is an adjective but nther x and nthest x (used to be Apto valid) are illogical too.

Good explicitly states that the comparative is better so gooder doesn't require any subjectivity to disallow.
Nther, like feinter (which I think gets disallowed now) don't actually make any sense, whereas benter, paineder and mainer all actually mean something.

Paineder x is a non sequitur.

A pained expression crossed my face reading this, and a paineder one crossed my face having to reply.
