Spoilers for Thursday 8th July 2021
We didn’t get UNPENAL in R1.
Susie offered ELASTICS, albeit without reason why; says mass noun but two example sentences give the plural – I wonder now if examples are still used for mass noun rulings, but not for capitalised or two-word entries. PLASTICS given as a count noun.

I mean, I've given my thoughts in today's recap and I have ticketed it. http://c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic.php? ... 5049d744ff

You definitely get hair elastics and as a kid we used to play 'elastics' a skipping game with elastic looped round ankles - not as kinky as it sounds...Rhys Benjamin wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 2:14 pm I mean, I've given my thoughts in today's recap and I have ticketed it. http://c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic.php? ... 5049d744ff
But the dictionary doesn't mention the kids game.

Well, quite - should be allowed by common sense, but by the letter of the law, it shouldn't be.

This episode was filmed before the statement about example sentences no longer being used for adjudication was made.Philip A wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 2:00 pm We didn’t get UNPENAL in R1.

Is it just me, or have the letters selections generally been terrible recently?

Yeah, it was the same with PICRITES. People need to wait to see if it flushes out of the system over time.Sam Cappleman-Lynes wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:19 pmThis episode was filmed before the statement about example sentences no longer being used for adjudication was made.Philip A wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 2:00 pm We didn’t get UNPENAL in R1.

Re: Spoilers for Thursday 8th July 2021
Yeah nothing like consistency.
NOUN
[MASS NOUN]
1 A synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc., that can be moulded into shape while soft, and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form:
'mains pipes should be made of plastic or copper'
[COUNT NOUN] : 'bottles can be made from a variety of plastics'
+ More example sentences
Re: Spoilers for Thursday 8th July 2021
PLASTICS is fine, [COUNT NOUN] is usually adjacent to a sentence. Lots of entries give a sentence.
