Would someone with better sound quality on their TV and better hearing than me give some assurance that she didn't say PERCEDING. She was pretty hesitant about it, that's what it sounded like to me, and she pronounced it with the wrong emphasis on the syllables - similar to PERCEIVING, whereas it's more like PRE-CEDING, with the first E pronounced.

Just listened a few times and I can't hear "PERCEDING" at all. PRECEDING all the way. Stressing the first syllable of PRECEDING is by no means universal - I pronounce PRECEDING pretty much indistinguishably from PROCEEDING.

Good to hear. Yet more evidence that I need to get my hearing tested.
