CO-MSO 25th August 2019
Like 2017 and 2018, there will be a Countdown event at the 2019 Mind Sports Olympiad.
For details of all events at MSO see https://msoworld.com/events-woo-ev-products/
This is held in London at the end of August and there is a slot on the second Sunday
for a Countdown event. Top three places will get the gold/silver/bronze medals
and there would be junior medals too if enough juniors play and do well enough.
5 round swiss, followed by a final and 3rd place play-off, using the Bristol System where the same letters/numbers are used across each match-up in a round. Apterous dictionary to be used. This is based on the ODO which is currently used in the show.
So confirmed for Sunday 25th August 2019 from 10:15 to 18:00 at
JW3, 341-351 Finchley Road, London NW3 6ET.
This is a modern Jewish Community Centre - please note food and knives etc may not be brought on site.
Entry fee £15 (£13 for under-18s) - book at https://msoworld.com/product/countdown/
A 10% early bird discount will be applied to all entries prior to 30th June 2019.

The same as in 2017 and 2018 then. I have, however, heard rumours that from 2022 the centre will be old enough not to be considered modern any more, meaning that food and knives etc. may be brought on site. Just need to wait it out I suppose.Tony Atkins wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:03 pm This is a modern Jewish Community Centre - please note food and knives etc may not be brought on site.

I would love to attend, but the lack of trains has killed it for me, so will have to miss, unfortunately...

Yeah, but King’s Cross is completely shut over the Bank Holiday weekend, so have no decent transportation access...Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 1:56 pmDoesn't the north send trains to London any more?James Robinson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 6:53 pm I would love to attend, but the lack of trains has killed it for me, so will have to miss, unfortunately...

Hi I'll be going to this. I spoke to Jonathan De Souza and he's going to0. T-Cap and Robbo can't make it, not sure about Ann of those who have been before that I know of.
Interestingly I spoke to quite a few people at MK who weren't aware of this event as they don't use the forum. Possibly worth a ticket on apterous?

And maybe a Facebook event thing as well. Having said that, would you want someone who doesn't use this forum at one of your events? The world outside this forum is full of weirdos - people who bring drinks and forks to events without checking first.Jonathan Wynn wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 10:38 am Hi I'll be going to this. Interestingly, the player in 10th place was awarded the wooden spoon but was then immediately thrown out of the building.Tony Atkins wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 8:14 pm Congrats to young Ronan Higginson for winning his first Co event and taking the Gold medal!
