Tom: 593. (((50+25)/75)+5)*100-7 (10)
Jack: 593. 5*100+75+25-7 (10)

Jack gets points on the board in this not too taxing 4 large.

Teatime teaser: SUMOUNIT -> MUTINOUS

Round 4: S I O E P N M A C

Tom: COMPANIES (18)
Jack: MEANS (5)
DC: INCOMES, (7) CAMPESINO (18)
Score: 54–10 (max 54)

Tom's really hitting his stride now has he's get his second nine! DC find the nice alternative CAMPESINO, A Spanish peasant farmer.

Tom: SPANNED (7)
Jack: PAINED (6)
DC: DANDIES (7)

Tom: 930. ((75*6)+4)*2+25-3 (10)

Tom: TOURIST (7)
Jack: ROBUST (6)
DC: QUOITS, (6) SQUIB (5)
OT: BISTORT (7) TURBITS (7) TURBOTS (7)

It's now 7/7 maxes for Tom as he gets TOURIST. Jack's offering of ROBUST is good, but not quite good enough.

Round 8: G C R O I N A E Z

Tom: ORGANIZE (8)
Jack: CRAZE (5)
Score: 86–10 (max 86)

And another max as Tom ORGANIZEs another 8 points in his total. Also only our second Darren today

Tom: 670. (100-75)*25+50-5 (10)
Jack: -
Score: 96–10 (max 96)

Another 4 large solve and another blank from Jack puts Tom on a very impressive 96 after only 9 rounds.

I believe Tom's score is the highest at this point in the current format (If anyone wants to check the stats feel free). Are we on for a record score?

Teatime teaser: HAMUDDER -> DRUMHEAD

DC: MATTED, (6) IODATE (6)
Score: 108–23 (max 117)

A return to form for Tom as he gets another max, and another outing for Darren Anderton. I seem to remember in his playing days he'd have this many appearaces and then he'd be out injured.
Image

DC: SHRINE, (6) SURLIER (7)
OT: HURLERS (7) INSURER (7)

Round 14: 5, 8, 9, 3, 6, 100. Target: 252.

Tom: 252. (100*3)-(6*8) (10)
Jack: -
Score: 125–23 (max 134)

Poor Jack must be cursing his luck to have come up against Tom and blanks again on a simple numbers game, which took me far too long looking for a 62*6 method.

Round 15: L O V E N U R S Y

Tom buzzes on 1.5 seconds to say NERVOUSLY which is correct.
Final Score: 135–23 (max 144)

Tom answers anything but NERVOUSLY as he strolls to an incredible 135. The third highest individual score in the new format, and with a winning margin of 112, he equals Tom Barnes's record for biggest ever win in either 15 round format. As for Jack, Nick reassures him that 23 isn't a bad score against a player like Tom as he sends him off with his goodybag.

Robbo will be around tomorrow, after he gets back from the finals recording. Is Tom with Tracey, Andy and the rest of the known finalists? Find out later throughout the week to see if he is, but until then
