Spoilers for Friday August 15th 2014 (S71 P29)
Mark Davies has swept the week so far en route to his 5th win. A 6th will give him a decent chance of making the finals. Can he get there?

Re: Spoilers for Friday August 15th 2014 (S71 P29)
It's a great feeling to get a 9 on the show - must be really great on the first round - mind you there are another two
available - NARCOTISE and ACTIONERS.
Quick way for 1st numbers (100-6)x(9+1), though I did it the standard way...

Great performance from Mark there. Clearly well rested. Plus, all the coolest people have a 137 high score
Possibly the first contestant to accelerate with a mic clipped...

Very well done that man - I make the max 145 so only 8 points dropped and he had seen one of them.
That's the equal 7th highest score according to CDB.

Seems CDB is out of date! No mention of Zarte's score on there....Tony Atkins wrote:Very well done that man - I make the max 145 so only 8 points dropped and he had seen one of them.

So AMPAGE isn't a word, you learn something everyday.
Well done Mark, you will certainty give Tricia something to think about, if and when you meet her, although I would still have her slight favourite!

Must question though, is that the worst conundrum scramble in history?

Mark is back on blistering form. Have to feel sorry for Keith who is a very good player.
Am I right in thinking that Mark isn't on Apterous, at least not under his real name? It's early days but you have to fancy him and Tricia for the final. Tricia to shade it I think, but Mark would win on the pleasantness stakes.

Yes. I saw it straight away but thought it must be wrong because it was virtually spelt out.Zarte Siempre wrote:Must question though, is that the worst conundrum scramble in history?

This is going to turn into another exciting series.. Amazing performance today and highest score of the year so far (outscoring mine)....not sure that I would want to call the final just yet what with some fantastic Apterites yet to play this series....

This one had my vote (http://wiki.apterous.org/Episode_5318) though I'm not so sure after today. Though that's not to take anything away from Mark's excellent game today - it was just as easy for his opponent and he still had to beat him to the buzzer.

What exactly do you mean by "standard way"/"standard method"?Tony Atkins wrote:It's a great feeling to get a 9 on the show - must be really great on the first round - mind you there are another two

I have seen you say it so many times on here but can't work out how you would define it.

Re: Spoilers for Friday August 15th 2014 (S71 P29)
I did hesitate a little with the conundrum as it did seem a bit too easy. I was happy to win one show so to get that score surprised me a lot.
I agree with Mark there are bound to be some other great players in the rest of the series so if I make the quarters I'll be incredibly happy.

I think he means use the large number(s) to get to the nearest multiple of 25, then use the remaining numbers to make up the difference.Martin Long wrote:What exactly do you mean by "standard way"/"standard method"?Tony Atkins wrote:It's a great feeling to get a 9 on the show - must be really great on the first round - mind you there are another two

Thanks Mark. Lots of practice to do between now and then. Especially for the conundrum!

Re: Spoilers for Friday August 15th 2014 (S71 P29)
Old 15-round scores don't count. I had a flick through the Wiki (so might have missed something) and I think Glen Webb's 141 is the record with 137 being the next best. The records page could probably do with an overhaul to include the different formats. The different formats need explicitly separating. Having the same number of rounds doesn't make them the same.Tony Atkins wrote:Very well done that man - I make the max 145 so only 8 points dropped and he had seen one of them.
