Spoilers for Tuesday May 27th 2014 (S70 P89)

Post by Jordan F »

Samir Pilica is up to 4 wins. A 5th today would get him pretty close to a locked finals spot, but no guarantees. Can he do it?

A moral dilemma for people playing along,re:1 second conundrums, obviously not having any buzzer to press, is it cheating to give yourself the 10 points for getting the conundrum right, even though you barely got to see it, before the player on TV pressed , but still managed to say it before the player on TV did?

But then from rounds 8 to 11 he took 23 points out of his lead!

You have to spot it before you hear the buzzer. Sometimes it's hard to tell but it's certainly not about saying it before he says it.

I know it's been touched on here several times in the past, but surely the letters ING in a conundrum more or less oblige a player to buzz immediately and try to "unscramble" the rest before they actually have to say it!, in the genuine belief, if they didn't buzz, their opponent almost certainly would!

Managed to MAX today's game, always nice, especially against a top quality player like Samir. 8-)

HARDTOP in round 4, EOLITH in round 5, SIDEWIND in round 11 and GENERICS in round 12.

1st Numbers Alt.: ((25 - 10) x 50) + 9 = 759
3rd Numbers Alt.: ((100 - 25 + 6) x 6) - 10 = 476

Hope you all enjoyed today's episode, even though Samir gave me a sound beating :D

Looking forward to reading Callum's recap of the game, I just hope he won't be TOO harsh with me...

You did alright Andrew, but that was some start you give him! on the conundrum, once you saw the ING, were you not tempted to buzz and hope the rest came to you before you had to say it!

Yeah, the nerves got to me after watching Samir's performance in the game before mine, which is why he got such a commanding lead over me. Before the letters of the Conundrum had even registered with me, he had already buzzed in so I don't think I could have done something like that.

Samir is certainly a formidable opponent, the one thing that might stop him going all the way, is his numbers, I can honestly say, I'd never heard of SEALPOINT until today!
