Just Saturday. Just booked my train tickets in advance too. Less than £9 to get from York to North Hykeham, even booking as late as today. Ridiculously cheap. £17.15 to get home though. I get to Hykeham at 10:44 so enough time to walk to the venue before shuffle off.
Booked Friday & Saturday. They only have one single room though, so I had to get a double, which will be useful when I undoubtedly score in the Fox & Hounds (or McDonald's).

Gev, I have a code for £5 off a Travelodge booking (today only - booking that is, not stay) if you want it.

How much was the double?

Anyway, I'm ringing Travelodge in a minute.

They don't haggle. Fuck it. I'll book it later today. I think I found a £5 voucher online anyway, but I've got to go out now so I'll sort it when I get back.

It's on vouchercodes.co.uk if you can't find it. Haven't looked at the T&C but see if you can book the two nights separately and use it twice. Travelodge are completely insecure about booking names so you can use the same card and book each night in a different name if needs be. And don't forget to get 4.04% cashback as well from my Topcashback link, all helps.

Oh, didn't I say? They dropped the price to £15, so I only paid a tenner.

(It was £59.20.)

(But at least I get to hang out with all the cool people, and I'm not sure it even counts as going to COLIN if you don't stay at the Travelodge and then go to Little Chef in the morning. Oh, you didn't think of Little Chef did you Corby?)

I thought of the Little Chef a lot when I booked my cheaper room which has a delicious breakfast included in the price. (I probably will still come along to the Little Chef anyway though because I seem to get up earlier than everybody else and go for a walk or something because I'm an old man.)

Or might someone (Mr Styles?) be a reserve in case we need even (divisible by 3?) numbers?
Perhaps if you had thought of the impact of this remark, or you were at all serious when you said
sounds good if we can keep improving the attendance and popularity of events
,
you might at least have hesitated before making it?

You sound offended. I was just curious why Ben had more people in the list than he said were attending, so I thought that implied one listed attendee might be provisional, and logically assumed it could have been the lowest seed. Turns out someone paid Ben literally as he was writing that post, and that's why the figures were out.

Sorry, Andy, misunderstanding; there will be no fight to spectate as far as I'm concerned, but I might bring my yellow cap and my knitting for added excitement.

I keep meaning to book myself in for this but things have been a bit hectic so I haven't had the time to look into it properly, what with the "hangover" event to consider. Are there still places left on both events?

Moreover it would be nice to have a "last updated" date on the list of participants so we can tell if it's up to date.

Both events still have plenty of space in them, yes. :-) The list is never more than 24 hours out of date (the seeding list is updated a little less often).

Interested to see how Andy responds to this 'knit-off' gauntlet being thrown down. IT'S ON.

Whoop whoop. Finally got my train tickets sorted. I'll be turning up just for the saturday, bringing with me one OED3 and 2 Sets of the board game, one without a numbers target generator. I get to Hykeham at 10:44 so should get there just on time!

Edit: Btw, I have checked my letters packs against http://www.thecountdownpage.com/letters.htm and removed extra Hs and Xs etc. I'd recommend that anybody else bringing their own letters pack does the same if they have the time.

Quick heads up to Charlie that drafting posts into Global Announcements doesn't seem to work, for this originally had its own topic, but I shall repeat it here:

Is anyone driving to and from London on the Saturday (and back on the Saturday)? It would help if I could have a lift if there is anyone - I'm willing to share petrol costs etc.!

Sorry, I didn't come across very well. What I'm trying to say is that when you draft a post (i.e. write it out but click 'save') in a global announcement thread (like this one), and then properly post it, it starts a new topic, and not on the end of this. I've deleted the trail of destruction.

By some awful coincidence, I'm stopping at that Travelodge on Monday night. Let me know if there are any rooms I should avoid please.
My home is on the south side,
High up on a ridge,
Just a half a mile from
The Scarborough Valley bridge.

Just got back home, cheers Ben for putting on a great event and I'm sure it was enjoyed by all, congrats to Jack on Saturday and Dylan today, great standard of play and it was great to meet some new faces, especially James R, Callum, Dylan and many others. I'll certainly be making an effort to come up next year. Apologies if you found it hard to understand me as well, my throat definitely felt irritated (damn window mould in this flat :( ) and apologies to the staff who told us at 4am to keep the noise down although it did lead to Jono's quote of the meet when we were in Suzie and Debbie's room with a group of other apterites. Basically:....

Member of staff comes in to tell us to keep the noise down
Jono Answers the door, member of staff: 'Could you keep the noise down please, it's 4am and there are kids around'
Jono: 'Yeah sorry about that, she (in the toilet) just had a really bad curry
Staff: 'Oh you're having a good time yeah?'
Jono: 'No we're having a shit time'
Member of staff: 'Certainly smells like it'

He left at that point
