So MTV has been moved from the music section on the sky channels to the entertainment section. In its place is a new channel called MTV Music. Remind me again what the M stands for.

Missed that, but I've been up there alright. Vaughan's pub in Kilfenora is only down the road and they used Michael the proprietor in the racism episode, so I've actually had a pint served by him, which was a great surprise!Ian Volante wrote:Aye, I saw the thing recently where they all went round and visited the woman that owns the place.

Yay, House is back.
Also does anyone from Ireland watch Hardy Bucks. Seeing as Irish comedy shows usually suck (I don't count Father Ted as an Irish comedy show) I thought this one was surprisingly good.

JHC. I don't watch it but I have a few friends that do. It's a medical drama that stars Hugh Laurie as Dr House (think his first name is Gregory?) Anyway I understand it's good and also Hugh Laurie becamse the highest paid British actor in the USA in 2010 for his role earning £225,000 per episode if memory serves correctly.Soph K wrote:What's House?Mark James wrote:Yay, House is back.

Re: TV
Anyone watch/like The Gadget Show?
I find it good for, say, if you were planning to buy a washing machine and you didn't know what make to get, I'd watch out for the episode on The Gadget Show where it tells you which is one of the best washing machines to get (and what is also helpful is that it tells you the best prices too). Plus, when the presenters are doing a race or something, using different makes of the same gadget, I feel I want to know which is best.
The only thing is, it isn't that funny (unlike, say, Top Gear) as well as giving facts - which is very good for a lot of things because at my school we were doing fractions (which some people find hard and boring) in Maths, and most of us were willing to make it a bit of a race to get all the questions done in the amount of time we were given, and the questions were stuck up around a certain area of the school. Almost everyone agreed that this made it more fun - so it is great to try and learn by making things more fun/funny (which Top Gear do - they give you facts about cars whilst putting several funny parts into it).

In the market for a washing machine, Soph?
The dude with the grey hair on that show really pisses me off. He's a bit odd to look at, and his presenting style seems to be a weird afflicted tribute to Jeremy Clarkson.

It is worrying that you find Top Gear funny since a lot of their humour is derived from innuendo and being prejudice.

Re: TV
There really is some great stuff on tv these days. It's kicking the cinemas ass. Movies just suck compared to what's on the box. I was pleasantly surprised with Don't Trust the B___ in Apartment 23. It's quite funny. I'm also thoroughly enjoying The Newsroom. It's really good. But top of the pile is Breaking Bad. It's one of the best shows I've ever seen. Everything about it is quality. If you haven't seen it yet get a move on.

I will watch anything Masterchef. I even watched an episode of the Indian version when I found one with English subtitles. I've got behind since moving back to my folks as their internet is diabolical, but I have in the past been up to date with UK, US, Aus, Ireland and New Zealand at the same time.
Unless I've missed it, no-one's mentioned the best British comedy of the 2000's in the form of Absolute Power. Fucking genius writing.
And I also love Dexter (probably the greatest show ever) and The Mentalist. I'm behind on both of those atm though, so if there are any other fans, no spoilers
