Interesting that the numbers came out at 24; the exact number me and Dan want to hit... James can you please explain the concept of player P and player Q?

I would, but there's actually a Q & R, and even more bizarrely you're not the first person to make that mistakeAndy Platt wrote:Yep - especially Tracey.Nina Boyd wrote:A testosterone-heavy list of players!

They were actually 2 people who responded to the ad in the Examiner, but Jeff wanted to keep their identities hidden, although I can say that they're both women, so that helps things in the gender wars.
And actually, we will be at 26, cos the Cullens are paying up on Friday.

Interesting. Identities kept secret at their own request, or was it Jeff's idea?James Robinson wrote:They were actually 2 people who responded to the ad in the Examiner, but Jeff wanted to keep their identities hidden, although I can say that they're both women, so that helps things in the gender wars
I know Eileen is from Yorkshire and it would be cool if she was one of them.
I can't visualise any other reasoning for keeping it on the quiet.

Wow, I didn't know that Eileen was from Yorkshire. Would've been nice to get her back oop north.Andy Platt wrote:Interesting. It's not just to end your hopes gently. I'm just following Jeff's orders on this one. If you want your info, ask him.

I swear someone is from North Yorkshire. Like a recent female contestant I played or recapped or saw in a recap or alternatively have completely made up.
I can stop spamming your thread now.
Actually that is a lie, for 25 quid entry, I'll write what I want

Andy, there was a MALE contestant from North Yorkshire, Richard Vaughan. He played Glen Webb on 7th June. Could this be the one you are thinking of?
If so, it rather puts a hole in the theory that they may be the 'unidentified' ad respondees.

Staying over now. Travelodge must have picked up a cancellation or two. Prices went down by nearly 20 quid in the last couple of days. Booked.I wrote:Paid. Don't think I can stay over though - still looking into it.
First class upgrade on the train for 4 quid as well , why not.
How did I forget Richard, always a solid performer at a tournament, capable of beating anyone on his day.I also wrote:Predictions for winner? I'm gonna say Kirk, even though he hasn't been practising. Gonna say Matt, Tom, Glen, and Wynn to have good tournaments too.

My predictions for tomorrow:
I think it's between Kirk, Andy, and Glen to win. One of the players still to appear this series could spring a surprise though.
I would also say rule out Richard and Tom at your peril.

Re: COHUD2 - Countdown In Huddersfield 2 - Saturday 6 July 2
Just in case all you guys are feeling left out, here's what happened.
As expected by many, it was completely well open and after the 3 15-round heats, only 2 players had a 100% record, Kirk Bevins and Andy McGurn. Then the next FOURTEEN players were on 2 wins out of 3
The rest of Group A was made up of Glen Webb, Rich Priest, Matt Bayfield, Andy Platt, Dominic James and Tom Hargreaves (who had the same points as Jonathan Wynn, but because he had a higher PB of 111, he qualified just ahead of him).
The quarters went to seed, except with #5 seed Matt beating #4 seed Rich, setting up a rematch with Kirk in the semis (earlier in the day, they had a 130-120 DOUBLE MAX GAME!!!). Didn't quite get to that level, but Kirk needed a crucial to beat Matt and set up a final with Glen, while Matt beat Andy in the 3rd place play-off on a tie-break conundrum.
So, in the final, Glen had a unfortunate start trying the 9er isolaters, but he was still in touch, even when Kirk went further ahead with his 4L 942 solve, and that gap was never extended or contracted, so Kirk retained his title with an 87-69 victory.
In the lower stages, Tracey Mills won Group B, beating Jonathan Wynn in the final, while Joseph Krol was the Group C champion with a final victory over Heather Styles.
Me and Jeff are so delighted with everyone who turned up, especially all the ones who made their débuts at the event, and in case you were wondering what the big announcement was, you'll find out more within the next week.................
SO, A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU WHO ATTENDED, AS WITHOUT YOU GUYS, IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AS BIG AS A SUCCESS AS IT WAS.
