Spoilers for Thursday May 2nd 2013 (Series 68 Prelim 37)

Post by Jordan F »

Eileen Taylor is up to 5 wins, and the number 3 spot in the series thus far. Can she keep things going and get a 6th win?

Wow, DC haven't been on form this week compared to the very high standard they have been showing in recent weeks.

LONGITUDE there for 9 in round 2 as a beater.

3rd numbers: 50x5+(10x8-9) = 321. Shocked that Rachel didn't get that.

A perhaps strange Rachel beater, but it's what I saw, as I'm apparently the 3rd person to post one.

(50-9) x 8 - 10 + 3.

Lol at everyone missing the numbers, although I admit it took me about 35 seconds (which is about 30 seconds longer than it should have) - might have got away with it if Nick asked me second. Same method as Jack for me.

SWOTTIER nice alternative in round 11 - would have liked to have seen a vowel at the end for TOTALISER or LOTTERIES though

Edit: haha, weird editing mistake there, the LONGITUDE round very briefly flashed up on screen just before Nick pressed the button for round 12, anyone else catch that?

Edit: MESHUGA nice alternative max in round 13

What did DC offer in that round? (QRTADZBEI) I can't remember

Nothing, I believe.

Well done to Eileen, another win with a near century. Shame for Neil, because he didn't seem like a bad player and probably could have won a couple in his own right.

I guess tribade was stated, but it didn't make the edit?

I wonder if Damian might have been taking a break from earpiece duties for this show? The standard has definitely been a lot lower today - I know how good his letters are.

Another win for Eileen, sure-fire octochamp now surely? I think today wasn't her best performance by some distance but she's got the early morning recording slot out the way without having to face a crucial conundrum, so all is well, and it will take another contestant of Jill's standard or better to keep up with her.

Edit: I've been working a few things out and if certain things go certain ways (some horse racing reducing the amount of shows remaining, nobody overtaking Eileen, Rachael not being able to make the finals) there could well be a Jill vs Eileen rematch in the quarter final, that would be pretty awesome.

I think Eileen is a good all round player. Wanted her to do well in such a ding-dong game where the lead changed several times.
As for the selections I saw SAMBUKAS* in R1 but sadly it's spelt with a C.
FAIRNESS in R10 and was pleased to see Gyles give an anagram of it, SANSERIF.
What did DC offer in that QRTADZBEI round? Think it must have disappeared on the cutting room floor. Even with the U as the next vowel up was chosen instead of the final consonant (B) it still would have only given 7 - AZURITE/QUIRTED
I knew 625 in the fourth numbers games was 25 squared but failed to get a second 25 and went the long way round going up to 700 and taking 75 away.
Come on Eileen :-)
ps pleased to see the Y back - even if I have to repeatedly bash it a few times to get it to work :-)

Great recovery by Eileen in the final part, really hope she becomes an octochamp on Monday.

I did
50/(5-3)=25; 25+8=33; 33x10=330; 330-9=321

What do some people know that the rest of us don't? Will she be in the late late stages of pregnancy, or something?

A great comeback from Eileen there. Nice to see her on 6 wins now. 8-) 8-) 8-)

MAHSEER in round 13.

3rd Numbers Alt. (Seems to be all the rage at the moment. :P ): ((50 - 10) x 8) + 9 - 5 - 3 = 321

I got the 321 the same way James did. Yeah noticed the change of letters in round 12 briefly.
