Spoilers for Friday October 19th 2012 (Series 67 Prelim 54)

Post by Jordan F »

Rose Boyle is on the verge of having a clean sweep of the week. Can she end the week on her 5th win? Sad to see Dr. Phil go as well, always one of my favorite guests.

Join Thomas for the recap later.

Couldn't Rose have put an R at the end of her GREASE for GREASER? I always thought that was in.

Is PALETTE a valid spelling of the word?

Second numbers game different (simpler) solution: (((9+9) x 8) + 1)

Round two: I thought Star Trek! I thought Ferengi and lo and behold FERINGHIS. Definitely not Scrabble word

Round four: like with GREASE + R why not PRESAGE + R as well ? Definitely a Scrabble word :)

That's the second numbers game - another method ((9+8)x(9+1))-(100-75).
Alt for the first ((50-8-1)x8)-75. Both were sadly for me out of time.

PRESAGER is fine but I didn't risk it.

It is the only spelling, I believe, and is a beater in round 8.

My mum thought she spotted TEATOWEL, but it's not in, so I presume it's still 2 words.

Carrying on with the 1st numbers alts., I was well happy with my method, considering that I don't normally go with sky-high (of sorts) methods: ((50 - 8) x ((75 x 8) / 100)) + 1 = 253

2nd Numbers Alt.: ((100 - 75 - 8) x (9 - 1)) + 9 = 145

IMPACTS in round 3, FITMENT in round 11 and GEODIC (not quite GEODESIC) in round 12.

Well played, Rose. Nice spot on the second numbers game.

Did anyone else spot the oddity during the conundrum?

As I say I'm playing all these games through quiet moments at work so I'm seeing them in a different way, but I thought that 2nd nums was easy, just 18x8 + 1, ah well. I really struggled with the letters that game though (again).

What is the oddity Graeme? Apart from the fact the scramble meant it took about a quarter of a second..

Roses's buzzer sounded like a buzz, rather than a bell? I saw this the first time and have just watched it again to make sure I didn't imagine it. Strange.

Well, I was three away because 2 large is evil and should be exterminated.

Watch it again and see if anything seems different from normal. Wasn't the case on Wednesday or Tuesday, which is all the more odd.

Yes, that. For some reason I replied to Andy's post without reading this one.

As a 6 small player, I thought you'd be one of the ones to have destroyed it

Yeah but I can't get on 4OD at work or at home so short of going the pub on my own just to watch countdown I'm not sure that's gonna happen, haha

Not when there are big shiny large numbers distracting you.
