COHUD - Countdown In Huddersfield - Saturday 30th June 2012

Post by James Robinson »

Hear ye, hear ye!!! ;) :) :D

After teasing you all at COLIN about my forthcoming event, I can finally reveal the long-awaited details of the newest CO-Event, which sees Countdown returning to its West Yorkshire roots. Not in Leeds, unfortunately, but an even better place, HUDDERSFIELD. ;) :) :D  8-)

So I (and Jeff Clayton, who is co-hosting with me) invite you down to the home of the Mighty Terriers of Huddersfield Town F.C., the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday June 30th for a fun-filled day of Countdown goodness.

And don't worry, I promise to tone down my mentions of Town on the day. :)

It will be played in the Bristol format, so there'll be a mix of 15 and 9 rounders throughout the day, with a piece de resistance at the end of the day. More intricate details will be revealed at a later date. ;) :) :D

The fee for the day (after protracted negotiations with the stadium staff) is £20 per person. This includes entry to the BTR suite in the stadium, a drink on arrival and a hot lunch too. There will also be the bar open at lunch and after the event too. 8-)

To pay, just send the money to my PayPal account: james_r_robinson@hotmail.com.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Galpharm at the end of June.

All questions that you want answering can be placed below. 8-)

Confirmed Attendees (30):
Philip Jarvis
Carole "Player X" Robinson
Matt Bayfield

Who is approving entries, you or Jeff?

And what is BTR?

Both are approving entries. We're hoping for a bumper crowd. :D

BTR stands for BTR UK Ltd, a waste disposal site, who sponsor the suite. :P

I can't answer the question of what BTR stands for, but I can tell you what it means:

EDIT - Hmmm... did you edit your post above to make me look like a twat James or am I just a twat?

James, how come you have opted for the Bristol style?. Ben's poll was pretty decisive in showing that people overwhelmingly prefer the Edinburgh style.

either way, i'm pretty sure i'll be there

I prefer it too, I must be honest, but basically to utilise Jeff's computer system to its full potential, using the Bristol style is much more efficient, otherwise, it would only be used for the final.

As I said, the more intricate details will be revealed later on, but probably 10-11am.

But nice to have 2 hopefuls already. 8-)

I'd like to, given that it's in my motherland, but given that you've picked the date of my dad's 60th birthday, I can't really commit right now. :(

Remember my earlier 'definitely coming' message? Turns out 30th June is the same day as the annual Lincoln Scrabble tournament that I kind of, erm, direct. Thus making it highly unlikely I'll be able to come to COHUD. :-(

The limit is 40, but considering we're at zero, at the moment, things are Ok for now.

I think I'm going to have to miss this one unfortunately. I'd be missing at least one and probably two cricket matches, which added to the many hours on trains is not ideal for me. Sorry James, hope it all goes well!

GREETINGS ALL!! ;) :) :D 8-)

Yes, I am still in Italy for another 3 days, but what better way than to use the hotel's Wi-Fi facilities to update the COHUD details, especially, as we now have just over 4 WEEKS TO GO NOW!!! :o :D 8-)

We're now up to a nice dozen in the "Paid Department", so I could really have some idea from all the other people in the "Provisional Department", as to when (or even, IF) I will be receiving money of any kind.

I'd thought I'd also mention that we will NOT be accepting pay on the day, and we do need all payments a week before the event, so June 23rd, for those of you without a calendar or a calculator. :P

If you want to be taken off the "Provisional" list, please pm me or just reply below, and you will be removed.

Thank you all for your time, and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Ciao for now. ;) :) :D  8-)
