An idea for a future CO-event

Post by Jordan Leckonby »

Since a lot of c4c-ers like Pointless, what would anyone think of having a countdown-related edition of pointless between rounds of a future CO event? James would be so perfect as the events equivalent of Richard Osman given his knowledge of countdown statistics and history.
For example for a basic round the question could be something like:
FEMALE OCTOCHAMPS OF THE 1990’S
DICTIONARY CORNER GUESTS WITH 100 OR MORE APPEARANCES
COUNTDOWN SPONSORS
For the words and answers rounds questions could be on the lines of:
INCORRECT CONUNDRUM GUESSES AND THEIR GUESSERS (i.e RASPILLED = JR)
SERIES AND THEIR NUMBER ONE SEEDS
DICTIONARY CORNER GUESTS AND MOST FREQUENT LEXICOGRAPHERS
The respective points totals could be determined by giving the questions to all non-participants at the start of the event (as only 8 would play it) and th percentage who get the answers could be the total.
This is a bit wacky but what do people think?

Yeah, I like that idea. Could even think about incorporating it for COHUD.

Nice idea, Jordan.

This is genuinely one of the most amazing ideas I've ever heard.

Problem: if James is one of the hundred there won't be any pointless answers.

Not necessarily 100 people, just survey all those at the event who will not be participating and work it out as a percentage

James won't be one of those surveyed as he'll be in the Richard Osman role

Me and Jeff are currently trying to see how we can incorporate this idea into COHUD, so it might be coming to a CO-event near you soon. ;) :) :D

I don't watch this show, but presumably it doesn't matter if you combine the survey and the actual game. You know, ask people to name the female octochamps of the 1990s (for example) and you do better for naming ones that other people haven't. Just have a game that's based on Pointless rather than actual Pointless and then all your self-inflicted problems go away. (Pointless itself being based on Family Fortunes and Topranko of course.)

How about having a pause between the 'prelims' and finals, in which the eight Group A players play (maybe in teams with who they're playing next) and the rest are asked to name as many as possible of that category beforehand.
cheers maus

You could also play it Scattergories-style and only have unique answers scoring, which encourages people to go for more obscure answers. Thanks for the heads-up though on what to revise ;)
