Spoilers for Friday January 27th 2012 (Series 66 Prelim 15)
Sri Gutta has had two impressive wins thus far, averaging 99 points in his two games. Can he make it a third today? To my delight, and perhaps from others as well, this is Michael Vaughan's last day over in the Corner, maybe he'll use that drinking he talked about yesterday to make himself interesting.

Second numbers alternative
(50+7)*(10+7) = 969

Didn't expect that. Have only viewed the last section but Sri didn't seems on form - R14 should have been easily got.

The show needs surprises like that. I'm glad that missing BERRIES in R1 didn't cost the game.

Same sort of idea, except I made it unneccesarily long: (50+8)x(10+7)-10-7=969Chris Davies wrote:Second numbers alternative

Susan was on standby on the day that my first show was recorded. She'd apparently been on standby a few times without getting on so I'm glad she's finally got her chance. She came up with a couple of good words too, although Sri was nowhere near as good as he'd been in his first two shows.
Didn't have my best day but got LLANEROS in round 7.

But we also need brilliant players too, and Sri seemed to have lost his numbers touch today, maybe it was end of the day nerves, because Susan wasn't really anything special, in fairness. That is a shocker!!!Clive Brooker wrote:The show needs surprises like that. I'm glad that missing BERRIES in R1 didn't cost the game.
AXIONS in round 9 and MEDIANTS in round 13.

Yeah, surprise result there - Sri just missed too much, both words and letters. Even I got the last numbers easily in time, and the conundrum.

Ouch, what an absolute nightmare. Poor guy. Especially the last numbers, he was clearly a good numbers player, but it's remarkable what tiredness/panic can do to the mind.

This certainly was a surprise. Susan was a good player, while, as you say, Sri was unlucky and fell down a bit on the numbers. Maybe nerves/tiredness or just one of those days.Innis Carson wrote:Ouch, what an absolute nightmare. Poor guy. Good luck to Susan on Monday. POLARISE in particular was a good spot, which I didn't get as my brain has been a bit mushy for a few days!
Nick seemed rather more pleasant in his remarks - maybe he's softening, or just getting the hang of it.
