Now, I know this decreases everybody's chances of winning a fiver, but could you tell me where I have to put in my codes, as I've gotten rid of the piece of packing where it presumably says I have to go.

I am dumb.

I saw these at the checkouts in Asda yesterday (30p a pack) so not wanting to miss out on the excitement (and big money prizes of course) I picked up five packs. I entered the code from the first one last night and returned today to find that I'd only fucking won! So that's 1/1 so far and a profit of £3.50 already (assuming they do send the cheque).

Anyway, my next question is should I enter the other four codes under the same name and address, or use four different names and addresses instead? Call me suspicious, but I've a funny feeling that a lot of people will win at their first attempt and then not win again using the same details for subsequent attempts. Or is it a legal requirement that the codes on the packets must be unique and the winning ones tied to actual prizes?

I think whether a code wins or not is predetermined, but even if it isn't they have to give you a 1 in 10 chance of winning (I am not a lawyer, but that would surely be clear cut false advertising if they didn't).

1 in 4 for me now!

Collectively we're actually doing pretty well at this aren't we? By the law of averages there must be other daytime gameshow forums where they're all sitting around cursing their bad luck, and theorising that it's all a big fix. Tossers.

I did think of using the DOND forum as an example, but then realised that they would all be experts in proability, statistics and random chance, so would be unlikely to leap to any daft conclusions.

Cool plan. Guess that should have been obvious really, didn't think of that. That said, I bet there is still a couple of people going through chewing gum at a seriously worrying rate here.

Nor me - the packets I got from Morrisons which were £1 for 5 were spearmint only, which I hate.

I have one of these. But I do go through chewing gum at an alarming rate - like 6 pieces a day I think.

I know, I'm 1 from 4 now. I've just entered the last of the five I have but am confidently predicting it'll be 1 from 5 tomorrow. I hope everyone's been keeping detailed stats on their entries so that Michael can make some startling statistical findings once this whole thing plays out.

As predicted, I end up 1 from 5. I entered all of them with the same details (email, name, address) and all at much the same time of day (if I was doing it again I'd try to do a spread of times). Anyway, here's the final details (entry number - date entered - time entered - code - result):

#1 - Wednesday 05/10/11 - 6.56pm - KWKW7G9CHPFM - Winner
#2 - Monday 10/10/11 - 8.26pm - 5XPKJZWR9R9F - Loser
#3 - Tuesday 11/10/11 - 7.36pm - LHRWTJGFJTWG - Loser
#4 - Wednesday 12/10/11 - 7.49pm - LK9JH5PFTLXJ - Loser
#5 - Thursday 13/10/11 - 7.56pm - Z5JH5TWP9P9G - Loser

Whilst I reckon we're never going to have enough data to even attempt to see if there's any sort of pattern anywhere, I'd been noting this down as I entered them so figured I might as well throw it out there.

Good work, I've been doing the same. (Well, just the win/loss order.) I'm currently on 2/13 with my wins coming on codes 1 and 9.

Edit: Actually it seems I'm on 2/12, how exciting. The only thing I'm pondering so far is that we're all above a 10% win rate, which seems a bit interesting. I imagine we'd have enough data to test whether our win rate is significantly greater if we keep posting our scores until we all get bored.

Apart from Volante, the fucking loser. I reckon we should ban him from the forum so he doesn't ruin our record.

In related news, I'm awaiting tonight on a code that I didn't even buy. While walking my dog this morning I found a dropped pack with one piece of gum left in it. That's gotta be lucky.

Allow approximately two weeks for delivery:

I'm wondering now whether I should reinvest my winnings (so that we can gather more statistical data of course, not because I'm an inveterate gambler).

Ah, makes sense, so we've got:

29/9: 5263
10/10: 7043
21/10: 14009
28/10: 15674

wish I'd kept my first one now, these datodes could be interesting if we get enough.

Hmm, a clear (confidence intervals to follow) tailing-off of payouts. Some later points will be interesting to note.
