Spoilers for Monday August 29th 2011
It's a new week on Countdown, and why not start it off with a dose of American in the spoiler thread?
After an up and down week, Dave Taylor has 4 wins to his name. He'll try to make it 5 today, but I believe he might have a hurdle by the name of Andy Wilson today. Joining the usual suspects in dictionary corner this week is frequent guest as of late John Inverdale.
Join that Ryan Taylor fellow for the recap later.

DC missed RATIFIES and RAMIFIES in one of the early letters rounds just now. Wonder if anyone will get this 9 on my screen at the moment...
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U
C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)
Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Jeff didn't ask DC if they had anything better, but MONETIZED was there.

I did (9*5*2+6*2)*2 for the second numbers, and I also saved myself a 9 in the first numbers that Dave wasted.

So tense! Unlucky Andy, it was a great game though and you hung in there really well.

RACHIDES was there in round 13. Unlucky Andy, I really wanted you to win (just for more Irish representation at the finals). Good game today.

Really unlucky Andy to come up against such a solid player but you played really well and should be very proud of yourself!

Yeah unlucky Andy.
Love the way how Dave Taylor says, "Probably the same 7"......and it never is!

That's the one thing I don't like about him. Oh, and the fact he knocked out Andy. Hope he gets octochamp now though.Barry Bridger wrote:Love the way how Dave Taylor says, "Probably the same 7"......and it never is!

Re: Spoilers for Monday August 29th 2011
Thanks dudes by the way. Took a one way train to Beamish Town yesterday as a result of being all famous and all so I've been somewhat under the weather all day hence the brevity of my posts. Erm, what can I say, I blew it. I was beyond gutted when I messed up that 164, not least because I had 163 written down. I just panicked and couldn't remember the score etc. I also got the first easy numbers and managed to un-get it somehow while trying to come to terms with my nerves.
I'd decided to take a few days off and make the most of the trip but I ended up just finding myself sad and lonely in an unfamiliar town just wanting to be at home. Then when I did get home I had to answer the same questions over and over and try not to look disappointed to keep the secret. It was well worth it though. Around 40 of us watched it in the local yesterday and man was it fun to see everyone hushing up after the ads and cheering wildly as if it was a football match when I scored. Every time Rachel said 'thank you' a big 'wahey' went up and the same uncomfortable pauses happened after Jeff or John's jokes. After the show finished everyone hushed up and my friend Dave presented me with my very own countdown teapot (a discount store teapot with a countdown clock markered on, it's great!).
The experience itself was great too if all a bit too brief. The staff were all really nice and I got to sing karaoke in chinatown with James Doohan.
