Godwin's Law.

As an online discussion involving Ryan Taylor grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.

You're sounding more and more like Richard Brittain each day. Maybe you should think about that.

Everyone knows Ryan Taylor is a genuine racist masquerading as an ironic comedy racist.

As far as I'm concerned, he was the James Callagher of the 1930's and 1940's.

Read that how you will.

I read that as your bizarre Margaret Thatcher love extending to not caring to remember what other prime ministers are actually called.

Are you really comparing James Callaghan to Adolf Hitler? At least, I assume you mean James Callaghan. Unless you were going for James Callagher, a management consultant from Dallas; a maintenance manager from the Salt Lake City area; or a property officer from Brisbane.

Arse. My reputation (if I ever had one) is quickly becoming embarrassing with every post I make. I feel like I am in the gutter with the disgraced Meakin.

Could be worse, Ryan. Imagine finding out you're actually related to the fucker. (Hitler, I mean, not Meakin, although that's a terrifying prospect too)

My brother's German mother-in-law was terrified of Hitler and the Nazis. Her young daughter fell off her bike and was crippled. her mother wouldn't allow her to go into hospital for treatment because she would die of HEART FAILURE, as did all cripples, mental defectives etc. they did not fit in with the MASTER RACE image, so were killed. Her mother would place her food on the table and tell her sit at the table to eat. If she couldn't manage it, she didn't eat. And that is how her mother taught her how to walk. She still has a bad limp. Her mother told me about the time that she was in the air raid shelter towards the end of the war. Her old neighbour sitting with her said, "The war will soon be over". The Gestapo came the next day and took him away, and he was never seen again. If the nazis had invaded us, you young people wouldn't even exist. All males from the ages of 16 and 60 were to be used for slave labour, except the ones who would join the German army. We had plenty of Nazis here who would have done that, and perhaps Germany would not have lost the war.

I think Rhys meant Jamie Carragher, centre back for Liverpool Football Club.

Yes Soph K. In wartime Nazi Germany, Defeatism was a crime punishable by death. Mutti told me that neighbours were encouraged to spy on neighbours, and she told me that the Germans would never again vote for a man like Hitler.

Soph K, Re. the story about death penalties in Nazi Germany. Not long after the war, we saw what happened to a woman living on her own in Germany. the war crimes invetigators reported the case. They even found the woman who reported the suspicious activities of the woman to the Gestapo. when the woman was asked why she reported the other woman, she replied that the woman was not a good German. She didn't fly any swastika flags, lived alone and didn't mix with other Germans. The offending woman who lived a quiet life and didn't bother anyone was arrested and died in a concentration camp.
