Countdown travel pad

Post by JackHurst »

Has anybody else got one?

Josh came back from shopping with one, so soon after I got one too. Its a blue book full of numbers letters and conundrums.

There are 6 puzzles on each page (177 pages in total): LLCNNN

Also, in the back of the book there are 'answers', but beware, NATRIUM is given as a possible word to declare in the very first selection in the book, and its not valid on apterous :o

If you are just in it for the fun then its a bargain at £3, but if you consider yourself a "Pro"/"APTONERD"/"BEVATRON", then you might be put off by the high proportion of numbers rounds and the spurious answers given for letters rounds.

(I love how nerdy this post is)

I love (well, like) how you left us a puzzle to do so you weren't having all the fun:

That's 6*177 = 1062 puzzles 8-) 8-) 8-)

(alternative solution: 177*6 = 1062)

Alt solution:

6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 1062

Anyone else think a 'travel pad' sounds like one of those incontinence products they usually advertise during Countdown?

I thought that was what was being referred to when I first saw the topic title. Nearly went out and got one.

Hmm APTONERD, anagram of that old favourite PRONATED. It also has NOTEPAD in it which is quite APT for this topic. I'll get my coat.

I was flicking through this last night when I saw a scramble for a conundrum was IMBEEVERS, I thought it was a bit of a coincidence, but then on the last page on a letters round it said PSCHARLIE. Finally, on another letters round the selection was GANDISEEG, surely not a coincidence.

Does Damian have anything to do with products made?

I think that was my doing, although I wrote the Travel Pad ages ago (July 2009) so it may have a new edition by now.

Not yet. I happen to sell these sorts of products for a living, and today one of my customers offered to donate a "Travel John" to me, to keep in my van for emergencies.
