Post by James Robinson »

COUNTDOWN:F MINUS ZERO

So, here we are, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.

Welcome to the start of the finals of Series 63. ;) :) :D  8-)

This looks set to be one of the best finals in recent memory, with 6 octochamps and plenty of Apto-skill on show, or so we hope.

First up today, we have the recently-elevated #8 seed, Peter "The Southampton Survivor" Godwin, against the record-breaking #1 seed, Jack "The Desford Destroyer" Hurst. 8-)

Now here are the new and improved stats for today's combatants:

Firstly, No.1 Seed Jack Hurst - 8 Wins, 946 Points (The All-Time Record 8-) )
Highest Score: 133 vs. Alex Curran (7th Game)
Lowest Score: 110 vs. Jonathan welti (8th Game)
9's Achieved: 6/7 - although he did have TREFOILED, but he didn't declare it.
Total Points/Max/%: 946/1031 (92%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 655/717 (91%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 231/234 (99%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 60/80 (75%)

Secondly, No.8 Seed Peter Godwin - 7 Wins, 705 Points
Highest Score: 110 vs. David King (6th Game)
Lowest Score: 47 vs. Lee Palmer (8th Game)
9's Achieved: 0/4
Total Points/Max/%: 705/1006 (70%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 510/686 (74%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 155/240 (65%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 40/80 (50%)

I'll be back later with the Robinson Recap Quarter-Final Special. :) :D  8-)

9 x 7 = 63
(2 x 6) + 1 = 13
63 x 13 = 819
819 - 2 = 817

Slightly closer for final numbers round.

Cheers for the stats. Let's do the nine round thing!

655*6/11=357.27
231*2/3=154
60=60

Add them all up and you get 571.27 or 71.41 per game. It gives a conversion ratio of 0.604, which is quite low for ones I've worked out. The 11:18 rule of thumb is about 0.611.

Also I'm not sure enough was made of the fact that Jack's lowest score in his octo-run was 110! We've had players with all centuries but this is another level again. But he messed it up with a horrifically low 108 today! :o

Way out of time, but closer still for R14

(9+1)x7 = 70

70-2 = 68

68x6x2 = 816

Haven't checked, but suspect this is closest possible.

n1 Jack, first of your episodes I've been able to see. Had to lol a bit at Peter switching to 6 small having already surrended 10 points on 2 large.

I thought I played quite poorly today, just lucky that Peter wasn't at his best. Going into the conundrum I wasn't confident I'd get it, so I was really pleased when I did as it meant I still hadn't dipped under 100.

It might seem like a below average performance, Jack, but you only dropped 6 points and I think most people would be happy to do that. 8-) So, well done.

One last question, what the f**k is a SPONDULIX :?: :?

SPONDULIX=money. Have you not seen the go compare adverts?!

Also, if I didn't already mention, I didnt realise my facial expression was so miserable throughout today's episode. It's understandable if people think I am a freak/twat now.

Hahaha the look on your face when you missed refined. Well done anyway Jack, though I hope Damian had his secret service men spirit you away to Singapore so that the fans can watch their favourite Peter Godwin slugging it out in the semis.

Was still a good performance from Jack, MONIALS was very nice. Was gutted when Peter declared SALMON, if only he knew the good old SALMON + I trick!

Nice one Jack (you miserable git). Shame about getting spoilered in aptochat (though I took it much better than Kirk ahhaha), I would like to know if I'd have got that conundrum (we pause it on Sky+ when we're playing you obviously) as I have always only ever seen it spelt SPONDOOLICKS.
