It is one to be aware of if it appears in old games as valid, in electronic versions and word lists etc. Well spotted Rich Priest.

Very disappointed as I'm sure we all are that Charlie didn't get a century today, but at least he got another comfortable win. Thus far only two people have scored 100+ in all 8 games of their Octochamp run and I would have loved to have announced a third in my 200th review next week. Also I don't think David played his best. Having just watched Charlie score 114 then 126 there's an inevitable feeling of "Oh sh*t" and inevitable studio nerves. Notably in Round 8 there were over 100 better words on offer, swiftly followed in round 9 by one of the two winning 8's halting Charlie's 38 round scoring streak. That's the way the cookie starts RUNGCLIMB, as they say. DC

I think what it is, is that Dave normally likes to credit people for any beaters they come up with (by putting the initials next to the word) and also Dave likes to comment on rounds now and then etc and I don't think you can do this if you use the recapper.

Where's FILABEGS from? It's not in the ODE2.

Full credit Rich for that. There is a word FILIBEG which has the variant spelling PHILIBEG, it's a kind of a kilt. My version is ODE2 c. 2003. includes the variant spelling FILABEG both alone and specified with FILIBEG. I can only presume this variant spelling has fallen out of use, and hence fallen out of the later edition of the dictionary.

My version of CountMax and the online Review Writer do include this now dropped variant spelling so that certainly would have gone unnoticed.

I wonder who's doing the edits for JimDic (and the version the online review tool accesses), there's a little one wants doing.

For the record my best time for a 15 round recap is around 7 minutes, and I'm probably the most experienced user of it. So 3 minutes is maybe a little optimistic.

It took me about 10 hours to do my recap of Kai's last game to be fair I did make it into a bit of a five-volume novel, and while you don't have to (and probably shouldn't) go to those lengths, nor should you, IMHO, see recapping as a bang-them-out-as-fast-as-possible exercise... I think most people will be happy to wait a bit longer for a recap which has been 'personalized' a bit, in the ways that Dave mentions

Dave, with regard to word-list errors on CountMax / the recap writer, post them in the 'CountMax errors' thread in the 'General' section - I'll do that for FILABEG shortly.
