Friday 1st April 2016 (Series 74, Prelim 45)

Post by Anthony Endsor »

Hello and welcome to another Friday recap. :) It has been decided from now on, Countdown will be 23 games long, transmitted for 2 hours at a time, and every 4 rounds Nick and Rachel will swap roles and swap back again. This is part of a new initiative by Channel 4 to introduce job sharing and shared placements across the country, ensuring that in a national emergency, all services would still be running, as everyone would be capable of doing any job, instead of just the one.
Yes you've guessed it. Those who read the date will know by now, that the above is complete and utter bullsh** April Fools

Down to serious business, and Sean Cooke is looking for his 6th win as he bids to do enough to get to the Quarter Finals. Will he make it? John Parke stands in his way today. Enjoy.

Susie talks about the origins of phrases that seem to mean a lot, but actually mean very little. She later admits to this piece being an April Fool. Who would do a thing like that?

Round 15: D I R T Y S A C K

No one buzzes. The answer was YARDSTICK.
Final Score: 63–66 (max 129)

The conundrum foxes our contestants, so it falls to a gentleman in the audience to take the honours, and a mug.

So Sean is defeated after 5 great games. Has he done enough to get to the Quarter Finals? Historically, 5 wins has been enough on many occasions, but not all, so it'll very much depend on who is still to come this series. Only time will tell. Join Sean Fletcher on Monday to see if John Parke can get a second win. I'll be back on 15th April as the Grand (theft of Countdown transmission  ) National takes place next weekend. I hope you will join me then. Thank you very much for reading, and goodbye. :)
