Round 1: S N V E A O T D A

Tricia: NOVATES (7)
Darren: NOVATES (7)
DC: DONATES (7)
OT: ADVENTS (7) NOVATED (7) SAVANTE (7)
Score: 7–7 (max 7)

A good start from both contestants as they both max this round.

Round 2: L S N O E O G X E

Tricia: LOOSEN (6)
Darren: gleens
DC: GOOSE (5)
OT: LEONES (6) LOGONS (6) LONGES (6)
Score: 13–7 (max 13)

Tricia takes an early lead here as Darren misspells his word.

Round 3: 25, 9, 2, 6, 5, 1. Target: 501.

Tricia: 501. (9+1)x2x25+6-5 (10)
Darren: 501. (6-2)x5x25+1 (10)
Score: 23–17 (max 23)

Straight forward numbers solves from both players here.

Teatime teaser: EASYDASH -> SASHAYED

Round 4: F R H S I U O E C

Tricia: CHOIRS (6)
Darren: CHORUS (6)
DC: CUSHIER (7) HEROICS (7)
OT: FOCUSER (7) REFOCUS (7)
Score: 29–23 (max 30)

Decent six spots from the contestants, but DC have two of the four sevens available as maximums.

Round 5: T Z N A E A R M I

Tricia: MARINATE (8)
Darren: RETAIN (6)
OT: ATRAZINE (8)
Score: 37–23 (max 38)

A good eight spot from Tricia extends her lead.

Round 6: 10, 8, 2, 8, 1, 4. Target: 854.

Tricia: -
Darren: 850. (10x8+4+1)x(8+2) (7)
RR (after having a second look): ((8+4)x10+2)x(8-1) (10)
Score: 37–30 (max 48)

Darren takes a risk with 6 small and it pays off as he can get close to the target while Tricia struggles. He's back within touching distance now. It's a very tricky one as Rachel can't solve it in the 30 seconds, but she finds the solution eventually.

Round 7: D T L E A O R W R

Tricia: LEOTARD (7)
Darren: TRAWLED (7)
DC: WARLORD (7)
OT: LEADWORT (8)
Score: 44–37 (max 56)

Nice sevens from both contestants but the darrenic LEADWORT, which is another word for the plumbago plant, was there for 8.

Round 8: M P V N I U O F E

Tricia: OPINE (5)
Darren: VENOM (5)
DC: OPIUM (5)
OT: ENVOI (5) MOVIE (5) OVINE (5)
Score: 49–42 (max 61)

A tricky selection means fives all round.

Round 9: 50, 4, 6, 5, 3, 8. Target: 121.

Tricia: 121. (6+5)x(3+8) (10)
Darren: 121. 50x3-(6x4+5) (10)
Score: 59–52 (max 71)

A nice solve from Tricia but Darren's is just as effective so they get ten points each. It's a close game still.

Teatime teaser: AMOSHPIT -> OPSIMATH

Round 10: S M T P O I E D S

Tricia: DESPOTISM (18)
Darren: DEPOSITS (8)
Score: 77–52 (max 89)

Wow! Tricia storms back in front with an excellent nine spot. That gives here a huge lead of 25 points which would be difficult to assail at this point.

Round 11: P Y R H I O E S D

Tricia: SPHEROID (8)
Darren: PRIDES (6)
Score: 85–52 (max 97)

Another great spot from Tricia, this time a darrenic eight.

Round 12: N J L D A O E T A

Tricia: TALONED (7)
Darren: DENTAL (6)
Score: 92–52 (max 104)

It looks like Tricia has hit top form just at the right time as she gets another nice darren.

Round 13: G T G I O U S P A

Tricia: AGOUTIS (7)
Darren: outgasp
DC: SPIGOT (6)
OT: UTOPIAS (7)
Score: 99–52 (max 111)

And yet another good spot from Tricia to match her excellent play all game, especially on the last four letters rounds. AGOUTIS would have been a darren last series, but now UTOPIAS has come in along with the ODO.

Round 14: 3, 1, 4, 8, 7, 8. Target: 127.

Tricia: 128. 8x8x(3-1) (7)
Darren: 128. 8x8x(3-1) (7)
RR: (3+7)x(8+4)+8-1
Score: 106–59 (max 121)

Another six small round and this time both contestants are one away. Rachel has it spot on.

Round 15: A V I L E M M O B

Darren buzzes on 5 seconds to say IMMOVABLE which is correct.
Final Score: 106–69 (max 131)

Well it was an awesome performance from Tricia but Darren has played well too, and he makes the parting blow by beating Tricia to the conundrum. It's a shame that he was unlucky enough to be drawn against such a strong competitor. Due to the lateness of my recap, you can join James immediately for the recap of Tricia's seventh game.

Statistics
Raw score: Tricia 106 - Darren 95
Maximums: Tricia 10 - Darren 5
