Friday 13th June 2014 (8/10 Cats Series 3, Episode 2)

Post by James Robinson »

So, I'm back in the recappers' chair for the latest Catsdown feature. Let's see what, we've got tonight. ;) :) :D

8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown recap for Friday 13 June 2014.

Team 1:
* Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff, a unique cricketer, as Jimmy has heard of him. :P
&
* Sean Lock, a prolific writer with razor sharp wit, meaning Jon Richardson will win.

Team 2:
* Jon Richardson, wearing an England/Countdown shirt, has had girlfriend for a year now, so Jimmy has lost £10. :P
&
* Rhod Gilbert, does a radio show on BBC Wales, which is a bit tricky as there has to be no mention of sex with sisters, building wicker men or marrying livestock.

DC: Susie Dent, her favourite Lancashire words are "pissmowers", "pisscats" and "meat growlers", and Henning Wehn, his favourite word is Gubbins.

RR: Rachel Riley.
OT: Other words or solutions.

Instead of the traditional Countdown teapot, the winners will receive a Countdown tandem.

Enjoy the show.

Just before the first letter is picked by Freddie, Henning reads out some poems from his "book".

Round 1 (Picked by Freddie): R A S O F R U M E
Jimmy's Distraction: Eating carrots and turning into a rabbit.

Team 1 - Freddie: FOAMS (5) / Sean: smurf
Team 2 - Jon: farmerous / Rhod: f
DC: FOREARMS (8)
Score: 5–0 (max 8)

Well, after Sean called Susie a "heartless bitch", Susie decided to retaliate by letting Jon have his 9 (which he's hoping to get , until Jimmy pointed out the fact that, like England of the past, it was disallowed at the last second............. :P

Just before the numbers, Henning does more poems.

Round 2: 75, 9, 6, 6, 4, 2. Target: 846.

Team 1 - Freddie: 846. Mistake in working. / Sean: 850.
Team 2 - Jon: 846. ((75 + 9) x (6 + 4)) + 6 (10) / Rhod: ((75 + 9) x (6 + 4)) + 6 (10)
Score: 5–10 (max 18)

Freddie is a bit unfortunate with trying to get to the target, and is 5 out with his 841, leaving Jon's team to capitalise.

Teatime teaser: NUDEFRED -> REFUNDED

So, Freddie and Jon take part in the next letters game.

Round 3: C R A N E V W O T
Jimmy's Distraction: Does a photoshoot in many poses.

Freddie: WAVER (5)
Jon: wovencart/cantervow
DC: OVERACT (7)
OT: CENTAVO (7) CONVERT (7) ENACTOR (7)
Score: 10–10 (max 25)

Still desperately seeking a 9 to give England luck, Jon goes for a double header, and fails twice........

Now, it's Sean v Rhod in the numbers. :)

Round 4: 75, 2, 10, 6, 8, 7. Target: 290.

Sean: 290. Mistake in working.
Rhod: 290. ((6 - 2) x 75) - 10 (10)
Score: 10–20 (max 35)

Well, Sean forgets to write his method down, and despite a plea to Jimmy, it's no points to Sean's team.

Henning talks about his new London grammar, compared to what he previously got.

Teatime teaser: BUTTBASH -> BATHTUBS

Joe Wilkinson returns in a grown-up shopping trolley with a harpoon for rollerbladers and a pill to turn your legs blue, as these are some of his "inventions" he has done recently.

Henning's final poem.

Round 5: R E I Y A D I P E
Jimmy's Distraction: Getting his nails done.

Team 1 - Freddie: rapide / Sean: pardy
Team 2 - Jon: eieipadry / Rhod: REAPED/DIAPER (6)
DC: REPAID (6)
OT: PERIDIA (7)
Score: 10–26 (max 42)

While Jon continues his desperation quest for a 9, everyone else seems to be finding it hard just to get a word at all, apart from Rhod, who has a pair of 6's. :D

Round 6: 75, 3, 6, 8, 6, 1. Target: 626.

Team 1 - Freddie: 630. / Sean: 625. Mistake in working.
Team 2 - Jon: 0. / Rhod: 625. (75 x 8) + (6 x 3) + 6 + 1 (7)
RR: 626. ((75 + 3) x 8) + (6 / 6) + 1 (10)
Score: 10–33 (max 52)

Rhod is the main man again, as he and Jon go further forward into the distance.......... ;) :) :D

Teatime teaser: SLAGNITE -> GENITALS

Henning's last poem (at short notice).

Round 7: H O N E D I S O S
Rachel & Joe's Distraction: Rachel tries one of Joe's other inventions, an "activity centre".

Team 1 - Freddie: SHINE (5) / Sean: SHINES (6)
Team 2 - Jon: snoodish / Rhod: denishoos
DC: HOODIES (7)
OT: NOSODES (7) SOONISH (7)
Score: 16–33 (max 59)

Freddie & Sean might have SHINE and SHINES, but it's irrelevant now, as Jon and Rhod have the game sewn up. 8-)

After being given clearance by the audience that getting the conundrum would be a valid 9 for England, Jon goes all out...............

Round 8: T W A T R E H A B

Jon buzzes on 8.75 seconds to say BATHWATER which is correct.
Final Score: 16–43 (max 69)

AND GETS IT :!: :!: :!: ENGLAND ARE GOING TO WIN THE WORLD CUP ;) :) :D  8-) :geek: :ugeek: (Shame this was broadcast before the Italy game on Saturday...............  )

Ah well, onwards and upwards. Bye for now. 8-) 8-) 8-)
