An even first round as both players get BRUISED.

Round 2: C X A I E R T L A

C1: ECLAIR (6)
C2: tailer
DC: RECITAL (7) ARTICLE (7)
Score: 13–7 (max 14)

A sweet round for Andy with ECLAIR as Johnny misspells with 'tailer'.

Round 3: 4, 1, 7, 2, 1, 50. Target: 628.

C1: 625. (7+4+1) x ( 50+2) + 1 (7)
C2: -Mistake in working.
RR: 628. (50-4-1) x 7 -1 x 2 (10)
Score: 20–7 (max 24)

Not quite perfection, but it's 7 points for Andy as he falls 3 short of 628. Johnny uses the 2 twice, so fails to score.

Teatime teaser: LASHGRIN -> RINGHALS

Round 4: T G P S O I U F V

C1: PIVOTS (6)
C2: SPOUT (5)
DC: SPIGOT (6)

This proves to be a PIVOTS(al) round for Andy as he goes further ahead, while Johnny can only SPOUT a 5.

Round 5: O A E S H M R G T

C1: SHORTAGE (8)
C2: SHORTAGE (8)

Both players get 434 spot on to take 10 points.

Jonathan Edwards talks about how his family have affected his career.

Round 7: S K R O A E S Z S

C1: SOAKERS (7)
C2: SEARS (5)
DC: ASKERS (6)
OT: KAROSSES (8)
Score: 51–25 (max 66)

The SOAKERS have come and drowned Johnny out of this round as he only manages SEARS. Another 7 points to Andy.

Round 8: A M N E O D T I M

C1: diamonte
C2: diamonte
DC: INMATE (6) DOMINATE (8)
OT: AMMONITE (8)
Score: 51–25 (max 74)

Both players attempt the same word 'diamonte' but there's no such word spelt like that. A second A is required. Consequently, a scoreless round.

Score: 67–35 (max 90)

Andy LONGED to go further ahead. Johnny had 'meloned' disallowed, so his wish was granted.

Round 11: N A R I E S N Y O

C1: SENIOR (6)
C2: ARISEN (6)
DC: SINNER (6)
OT: ANNOYERS (8)
Score: 73–41 (max 98)

Andy takes a SENIOR role in this round and a matter has ARISEN for Johnny. Both score 6 points.

Susie talks about a nightclub opening in Germany and the origin of the word DISCOED.

Round 12: N P I A N T O D E

C1: ANTINODE (8)
C2: NOTEPAD (7)
DC: ANOINTED (8) ANTIPODE (8)
OT: PINNATED (8)
Score: 81–41 (max 106)

It's another 8 for Andy with ANTINODE. Perhaps Johnny should put that in his NOTEPAD of words to learn.

Round 13: I E U H R T F Q R

C2: FURTHER (7)
DC: THURIFER (8)
Score: 88–48 (max 114)

Both players go FURTHER in this round, with another 7 points each.

Round 14: 1, 2, 4, 9, 100, 25. Target: 203.

C1: 203. (2x100) + (4+1) (10)
C2: 203. (2x100) + (4-1) (10)
Score: 98–58 (max 124)

An easy numbers game as both players comprehensively get 203.

Round 15: S L E E P S I N N

C2 buzzes on 3 seconds to say PENNILESS which is correct.
Final Score: 98–68 (max 134)

A very quick buzz from Johnny gives him a consolation 10 points as he gets PENNILESS in 3 seconds, much the same as me on a night out

So Andy marches on to his 3rd win as Johnny wilts under the pressure. We clearly have a star in the making here. I think it's fair to say he's probably the best player of the series so far and could go on to achieve great things.
Well that's about it for today. Keep watching next week to see if Andy can continue his great run. Andy McGurn will be here on Monday, and I will be here next Friday to recap what could very well be Andy's octochamp game. Until then, thank you again for reading and goodbye. :)
