Enjoy the show.

Round 1: T N E A E M S Z O

George: MEANEST (7)
Stewart: STAMEN (6)
DC: TONEMES (7)
OT: TEMENOS (7)
Score: 7–0 (max 7)

He may not be the MEANEST guy around, but George gets the goods in early to take the first lead. :)

A TEMENOS is a piece of ground surrounding or adjacent to a temple; a sacred enclosure or precinct.

Round 2: D A T P E A F N O

George: FANTOD (6)
Stewart: patent
DC: TONEPAD (7) NOTEPAD (7) PEDANT (6)
Score: 13–0 (max 14)

Unlucky for Stewart, as he duplicates the T, while DC get both available 7's.

Round 3: 100, 75, 50, 25, 1, 4. Target: 189.

George: 189. (((100 - 4) x 50) - 75) / 25 (10)
Stewart: -
Score: 23–0 (max 24)

Need I say more......... :? :?:

Teatime teaser: TENRACED -> CANTERED

Round 4: P A E L I C K L S

George: SPECIAL (7)
Stewart: PLAICE (6)
DC: PICKLES (7)
OT: ALLSPICE (8)
Score: 30–0 (max 32)

Yes, he is SPECIAL, isn't he? Although, so is the darrenic 8 of ALLSPICE. 8-)

Round 5: R V N S T O E O P

George: PROTONS (7)
Stewart: stooper
DC: SNOOPER (7) SPOONER (7) PROVOST (7) OVERTOPS (8)
OT: STOPOVER (8)
Score: 37–0 (max 40)

You can't be a stooper, so Stewart stays on zero, whereas George sounds annoyed with himself when Susie mentioned OVERTOPS for 8.............

Round 6: 25, 2, 3, 7, 2, 8. Target: 579.

George: 579. Mistake in working.
Stewart: 579. (((7 x 3) + 2) x 25) + (8 / 2) (10)
Score: 37–10 (max 50)

Oh dear, oh dear, George has a meltdown on the numbers, and Stewart takes full advantage, certainly to the shock of Nick at least. :P

John carries on with his list of the 20 worst phobias with numbers 15-6.

Round 7: M D N G S E I E L

George: SEEDING (7)
Stewart: lending
DC: MINGLES (7) SINGLED (7) SMIDGE (6) SMIDGEN (7) SEEDLING (8)
Score: 44–10 (max 58)

Well, he might be off the mark, but the phantom letters are still with Stewart, and George might be kicking himself a bit for not sticking the L in his SEEDING to have a SEEDLING.......... (Incidentally, GILDSMEN isn't in the ODO............ :geek: :ugeek: )

Round 8: R N A R M E I E S

George: MARINERS (8)
Stewart: MARRIES (7)
OT: SMEARIER (8)
Score: 52–10 (max 66)

Another great 8 from George. This game is already his surely........

Round 9: 100, 75, 50, 25, 1, 9. Target: 350.

George: 350. (9 x 50) - 100 (10)
Stewart: 350. ((100 / 25) x 75) + 50 (10)
Score: 62–20 (max 76)

Well, that's probably the easiest 4 large since George has been on the show. :P

Teatime teaser: SPUDLIME -> DISPLUME

Round 10: Y T F A U A D G R

George: GAUDY (5)
Stewart: GRAFT (5)
DC: DATURA (6)
OT: ARGUFY (6) GAYDAR (6)
Score: 67–25 (max 82)

Stewart finally gets some letters points on the board, while DC find a shrubby 6. 8-)

Round 11: T S N D O U O I C

George: CONDUITS (8)
Stewart: COUNTS (6)
DC: DISCOUNT (8)
OT: NOCTUIDS (8)
Score: 75–25 (max 90)

An impressive 8 yet again from George, and he's just one round away from victory. 8-) 8-)

A NOCTUID (or OWLET) is moth of a large family (Noctuidae) whose members typically have dull forewings and pale or colourful hindwings.

Susie's Origins of Words talks about the origins of "blacklist" and "hitlist".

Round 12: A I R T G A V D O

George: AVIATOR (7)
Stewart: DIVOT (5)
Score: 82–25 (max 97)

He's definitely flying high now, 5 wins up for Master Ford. :D

Round 13: H M G J S I O U T

George: MOUTHS (6)
Stewart: mouths (not written down........  )
DC: MUGSHOT (7)
Score: 88–25 (max 104)

Ouchy, just what you don't want to do, declare a 6 and then forget to say that you've wrote it down............  DC do get a great darrenic MUGSHOT for 7 though. 8-)

Round 14: 50, 6, 6, 9, 3, 5. Target: 792.

George: 794. (((50 x 3) + 9) x 5) - (6 / 6) (7)
Stewart: -
RR: 792. ((6 x 6) + 5 - 3 + 50) x 9 (10)
Score: 95–25 (max 114)

Nothing for Stewart, but only 2 away for George, who clearly has been too busy with his 4 large methods to do his 88 times table :!: :!: ;) :) :D

Round 15: I R I S F U D G E

George buzzes on 27.25 seconds to say RUDGIFIES which is incorrect.
Stewart does not buzz.
The answer was DISFIGURE.
Final Score: 95–25 (max 124)

Oh dear, oh dear, another conundrum fail for George, but at least it wasn't as embarrassing as forgetting his dad's occupation in yesterday's one :!: :!: :P :P

Admittedly, George had a walkover in this game, even with the little stumble in the 2nd numbers game, but I wonder if he'll have a sterner test in tomorrow's game, which Jack Worsley will provide, as I'm otherwise busy............

So, join me next Wednesday, when George will have gone by then, and someone else will be trying to reach the finals, which are getting ever closer...........

So, till then, bye for now. And see you in Edinburgh this weekend for COEDI, whoever is heading oop north. :P ;) :) :D 8-)

He hadn't written "mouths" down (but forgot to say so), and Nick went to George first, who happened to have the same word.

Yup, all clear now, as I said at the top, I wasn't quite done, as I did it late last night, and was well tired, so have just finished it now. 8-)

And thanks to Jack for doing it in my place tonight. ;) :) :D
