Ha - reading that has just made me realise what a 'darts' name Bevins is! But Tony would be a better first name.

The cartoon on page 8 of issue 1249 of Private Eye suggests Rachel for a political appointment. Not in very good company, admittedly.

There is a tenuous link between Rachel Riley and Gok Wan.

There is a strong possibility that I will be appearing on Midlands Today on BBC1 Midlands at 6.30pm today.

Hope no one blinked.

The programme is currently online here - right click the link and select "Open in new window" or it'll resize your current window. Not sure how long today's edition is there for, I think only until tomorrow's gets loaded in its place. The report begins at 13:52 and I appear at 15:37 for all of 5 seconds.

Evidently not even as long as that, as I just clicked on your link and it now leads to a report whose entire length is only 12:28.

It was about 5 seconds.

Oh, I see. It was about this story which made national news over a month ago but which our regional BBC news service seems to have only just picked up on. They showed mainly footage of our threatened Youth Theatre in action, but for some reason they wanted some separate shots of adult members of the company in rehearsal too.

Media interest in this story shows no signs of abating, indeed quite the reverse. I've just come back from being filmed by two separate documentary crews: one for the German television station RTL, and one for an investigation by the BBC's Panorama, to be screened probably in the new year.

There's another namecheck for Kirk's darts achievements, in the latest issue of We Love Darts magazine. This time he was mentioned for reaching the semis of the UK Universities Darts Singles tournament, where he lost to eventual winner Lawrie Morgan.

Fraid it wasn't a big enough story to make the We Love Darts website, although it is still the lead story on http://www.universitydarts.co.uk.

You were namechecked in the match reports section (page 84) of the printed version of We Love Darts.

Wolfson Howler is a Cambridge uni comedy event (not a publication) - Charlie usually just does stand-up for his college comedy events, but got invited to do the Howler (apparently the person who runs it thought he was funnier than this student reviewer did).

(This is probably needless back-story, but Charlie is presumably at finals getting drunk/having sex with Kirk, so I thought I'd fill you in (woof).)

Weird, I found that just last night before it was brought up in this thread (I was looking for the Jon Corby versus Charlie Reams edition on Youtube, as opposed to just typing 'Charlie Reams' into Youtube). I couldn't really hear him through the audience noise though, dodgy recording.

I know you're trying to do Charlie down (quelle surprise), but seeing as Wolfson Howler is one of the most prominent comedy nights in Cambridge its really quite impressive to even get on the bill.

Yeah that's me,I wear my heart on my sleeve.Pop music is actually one of my stronger suits usually but for some reason I didn't pick up on the Nelly hint and just came out with the first US female singer I could think of  Regarding the Hero question in the head-to-head, whilst I knew Enrique Iglesias had sung the song I knew it was highly unlikely to have been as far back as '93, but when you're that close to 2 grand you'll say anything that sounds remotely plausible.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone :) Of course it was a little disappointing to just miss out, but I'm really glad I got that far.I was just hoping to survive a couple of rounds, and not having to do The Walk was particularly nice.I've also discovered what my jinxes are now - competing against a David in a final of something and wearing a short-sleeved sky blue shirt are obviously not my good luck charms! I kept quiet about being a former Countdown runner-up until after the end, and they admitted they'd have voted me off sooner if they'd known. But since my last competitive appearance on tv ended in cafe-tieres it was great to go back on screen and do well.

I could hear it once I put the headphones on. I thought it was actually quite good. It's not often you get a guy appear on stage dressed in a suit, talking in a monotone accent in detail about the act of bukkake and further trying to reclaim the act as a feminist event: whatever your problems with the conceptual framework you've got to admire the chutzpah.
