The UK is in global terms a small island (well several actually ) but I love a regional accent.
My ex wife comes from the Midlands and I liked the way she pronounced tooth and bus.
Also my Northern Irish friend likes to say film as Fillum.
But I pronounce water as wartah.
What quirks do you like ?

Do you use the glottal stop?
Roundabouts shall forever be 'islands'. Also, people don't use the word 'gambol' enoughMarc Meakin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 11:39 am My ex wife comes from the Midlands and I liked the way she pronounced tooth and bus.
One quirk of mine; when talking at speed, the 'tt' sound in words such as 'bottle', 'little' and 'rattle' can come out as a 'ck' sound. Is this courtesy of my speech being badly stilted or is it someone you've noticed in certain accents?

I live in Dublin, but am from Limavady, Co. Derry, and I can tell you if you travel 10 miles anywhere in Ireland the accent changes
