Working from home - top tips!

Post by Fiona T »

With the Coronavirus pandemic, many of you will find yourselves working from home for the first time. As a seasoned WFH'er I thought I'd share the wisdom of years of experience for those issued with a shiny new laptop and skype account for the first time

1. Airport rules apply.
It's clocking off time somewhere so it's perfectly acceptable to enjoy a cheeky glass at your desk, although keep it professional. White wine for work, red to relax. Stick to Chardonnay or Sav blanc for those early morning skype calls before cracking open a bottle of red when it all calms down after lunch.

2. The P in VPN stands for Private.
Since you're at home without Karen from HR constantly checking up on you, now is the time to use your new laptop to enjoy that clown porn the way the makers intended. Since it's a work machine there's no way the family will accidentally stumble on to your browser history.

3. Keep up work traditions.
It's always someone's birthday in the office so make sure you buy a large variety box of doughnuts and cakes and put them at the end of your desk.

4. Stick a bit of tape over your webcam, so you never need to get dressed. If you are absolutely compelled to join a video call, you can do as Nick Hewer does and wear trackie bottoms from the waist down.

5. A mouse jiggler is invaluable if your online presence is being monitored

Finally, some helpful tips on time management from Mitchell & Webb
