Here you go pal, post all your shit in here rather than tagging them onto the end of other random threads.

How have you been? Still seeing your bit of fluff? What happened with that whole bike/court case thing?

Nice to have you back, Marc. Still think you're a bit of a twat but no doubt the feeling is mutual (including the not giving a shit about it).

Anyhow, Jon and I have both created new threads for you to say whatever it is you want to say at your request, but you're not saying anything. I know you've got stuff to say and I for one can't wait to read it. So where is it?

I don't think it would work as a film unless you took serious liberties with it, as the original book has very little plot to speak of (which is part of the beauty of it of course). Anything faithful to the book would come across as a totally contrived mish-mash of concepts and ideas that don't really go anywhere. Mind you, that said, if someone did come up with a decent way of putting it across on film, I'd be interested in seeing it.

Thought I would post in this one, Okay
I vaguely remember today is national poetry day.
So here are two Limericks
If you need a poetic fix

There was a young man called Charlie
Who liked to drink ale made from barley
It affected his brain
As he got on a plane
And ended up in Timbuktu, Mali

There was a young man called Jim
Who always goes out on a limb
To help a man out
Who's unable to shout
What a gentleman, Bentle man Jim

Here's one for us.
A quiz based on guessing the wrong answer.
For example using a similar system to pointless.
Name an English team that has won the European cup.
So guessing Leeds united or Arsenal for example would get you a point if one of the hundred chose that but not if West Ham which nobody is likely to say.
Trick questions would be useful like where does Indian ink come from ?
Or how many no 1 singles have The Who had?

Could someone please start a thread for the Oscars 2018.
My initial contribution is to ask posters how many of the best film categories have you seen .
I have seen all nine candidates apart from Call me by my name...I think The Shape of Water will win best film although my preference would be Three Billboards.

Also I am hoping Roger Dealings wins best Cinematography Oscar for Blader inner 2049, having failed to win in 11 previous years he has been nominated

Want to start a thread (apologies if one has been started previously ) about comedy gigs either live or on DVD/Netflix etc.
Just watched James Acaster's Repertoire on Netflix, very clever and funny in parts.
Favourite live comedian I have seen is Frank Skinner
Favourite DVD was of Robin Williams.
Wondering who other people on here , have seen ?.
For those of those able , (i.e. everyone but me ) feel free to start a new thread.

George Carlin is still the greatest as far as I'm concerned. Never saw him live but have pretty much all his albums either on cd or dvd.

Highly recommend Norm MacDonald. His Netflix special Hitler's Dog is amazing but I would also suggest checking out all his late night talk show appearances, particularly Letterman and Conan O'Brien. His "Moth Joke" is one of the funniest things you'll ever see. He's probably my favourite comedian at the moment although Stewart Lee would be a close second.

Also like Doug Stanhope and Bill Burr. I'm going to see Bill in June and will report back.

As for favourites that I've already seen live, Billy Connolly, Jackie Mason and Jerry Seinfeld were all incredible. Seinfeld in particular. I get why some people don't like him but my face was achingly sore from laughing.

Ricky Gervais must like him too.
Will check out Norm McDonald over the weekend.

Can't stand him. I liked that he gave the world Karl Pilkington but in that animated show he comes across as a bully. Plus he kind of cheated when it comes to stand up. He didn't do the hard graft. He got famous doing something else and now has a ready made audience of sycophants who think anything he says is funny. His latest special is just moaning about people complaining about being offended while he goes out of his way to be offensive. And for all his complaints about people being too sensitive he blocks people on twitter who give him the slightest bit of criticism.

I'm all for the right of comedians to be offensive but people also have the right to be offended. None of the people who find Gervais offensive are looking for legislation to shut him up in the same way Carlin had to deal with, it's just people registering their complaint and often not even directly too him. He goes out of his way to find people he upset. Guy is a nob.

I heard of an incident, I think it was Fankie Boyle, who I mostly like, doing a set and there was a couple in the audience not laughing at one point and he had a go at them. I think it was a joke about some disability their kid had so it wasn't funny to them and they explained that they understood the kind of humour Boyle does but that particular joke wasn't for them and they were happy to sit there not enjoying that bit but he kept goading them and complaining that people are too sensitive instead of just getting on with it.

There's a undercurrent of feeling around at the moment that disagreement is censorship. Even Seinfeld has fallen for this, complaining that you can't play colleges anymore because of PC gone mad. Not that he ever played colleges in the first place but it's just nonsense. Tastes change and if people don't think you're funny then tough tiddlywinks.

A few others I've seen live were Reginald D. Hunter who was great, Mark Thomas who was also great and Tommy Tiernan who was decent but only did about forty minutes. He can be a bit hit and miss. I have most of his dvds and he seems to alternate in quality. Every second one is good.

Ones I've not seen live but from their dvds it comes across that they are the best with an audience and I'd love to see are Dara O'Briain and Al Murray's pub landlord. Their ability to interact is incredible.

I only mentioned Ricky Gervais because he must have seen Stewart Lee a few times as he seems to be nicking his style.
There are very few comedians I've seen that I can say I don't like.
Michael McIntyre, for instance can be quite funny as can Peter Kay.
I don't mind a bit of Harry Hill (Btw the first time I saw him live, both Al Murray and Stewart Lee was in the audience ).
On the subject of Comedy, I would like to do Edinburgh either this year or more likely, next year.
I wanted s bit of input from anyone that's been

There's alot I don't like but I'd still have to give credit to. McEntire would be one. He's not for me but he's clearly good at what he does. I find as well that if you're good on panel shows you're less likely to be good in an hour special and vice versa. I like the scenes we'd like to see bit on Mock the Week but can't stand watching most of those comedians in their own act. Even Frankie Boyle was much better on that than in his own shows.

My most hated comedians (besides those right wing conservative reactionaries that call themselves comedians even though they aren't really like Steven Crowder) are Lee Mack and Russell Howard.

I am of the belief that funny is funny regardless of background. Jimmy Carr is not my favourite person but he can still make me laugh.
The only other panel show comics I like are Sean Locke and Milton Jones.

Continuing a voyage around live entertainment.
What's your favourite poet or ventriloquist 😁 ......no but seriously.
What's your favourite play or live musical.

My favourite play is Glengarry Glenross although I did enjoy Death of a Salesman.

I've seen Les Miserables countless times ( my daughters were obsessed.
Although my personal favourite was Matilda

Well I do like John Cooper Clarke, he seems a bit a craic but I'd rather just hear him talking. I can do without his poems. That voice in a box thing Rob Brydon does is a kind of ventriloquist trick so I'll go for him.

I don't go to the theatre but I like plays and musicals in film form. 12 Angry Men and Grease would be my favourites. Glengarry Glenross is amazing too.

The best play that I've seen on film is Man of Earth.
Its not technically a play but it is mainly in one room.
Its a cerebral Sci Fi. Its worth checking out but not the pointless sequel Holocene

Highly recommend Norm MacDonald. His Netflix special Hitler's Dog is amazing
Very good! Thanks for the recommendation.

As this is a miscallaneous thread, I'll post in here.

How famous would you say Adam Lambert is? I've been having a debate with someone over his level of fame. Whether he's a household name etc.

He isn't as famous as he thinks he is for sure.
I think he won American Idol and has fronted Queen for a few years he also was butt hurt that he wasn't considered for a George Michael biopic
