Well write really. My main problem with it is that it basically doesn't make any sense. It's never anyone's belated birthday. If anything they should "Belated happy birthday".

People who lazily use obscure abbreviations/jargon, and then get annoyed when you ask what it means, suggesting you should Google it. I mean, obviously I have already Googled it, but you still need to be pulled up on it. Reading your post shouldn't require homework.

People who can't be arsed to put the shopping trolley back. Awful people, should be prosecuted.
This happened yesterday as I sat in a Tescos car park eating a giant pot of salad and doing some work with my [Graeme's] laptop on my knees at 8.25 am on a Saturday morning. (My life is dope.) This total and complete Karen of a 55-year-old-ish-looking woman who oozed snobbery and who had a personalised numberplate on her unnecessarily large Range Rover two spaces down from mine in a massive and very empty car park unloaded her shopping, and then just dumped the trolley in the space between us. I naturally handled this well and massively overreacted, and yet so completely in her own world was she, she somehow didn't see all my gesticulations, just driving off like nothing had happened. It never ceases to amaze me how some people are completely incapable of and/or are unwilling to see the world outside of how it most immediately affects them. I can't tell if it's ignorant, selfish, deliberate or just stupid. She had the time to apparently park as far away from the supermarket door as possible yet not the time to do the 20 extra paces required to clean up the mess she made. Whichever it was, it was rude, and I hope she is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Grammar pedants, people obsessed with language's "rules" and people who think online copy should all be "sentences of ten words or less". It just doesn't make sense why you want them all like that. Surely it is the mixing up of lengths that makes the punchier ones punchy; surely it is the individuality of one's expression that makes them a writer, not a content farm. And while not all writing can be justified by this reasoning - some of it is just shit - I see no purpose to wanting to standardise the way people write, talk and communicate.

In unrelated news, I definitely did not just have a disagreement with an editor about some work I submitted.

People who bring up the "but it's legal tender" argument as to why their offered payment should be accepted in a transaction. Legal tender refers to repayment of a debt, meaning that if you offer to pay off a debt in legal tender then you can't be sued for failing to repay. What you are doing in a shop is an exchange, and the shop therefore has discretion over what they accept. A shop can accept anything they like - including Scottish notes, Northern Irish notes and even obsolete notes, though they are by no means obliged to. It's especially annoying when people use this for Scottish/Northern Irish notes, since these are not legal tender anyway.

Specifically thumbs. It's horrible to look at when someone's pressing their thumb down on something and it's bending backwards.

But caramel's nice in the first place. There's a practical side to adding salt to beef to make corned beef, but caramel doesn't need to live for years in a tin, so adding salt is just silly, and probably an affront to god and man.

I've never met anyone who dislikes ABBA, on a similar note.

I never really liked the Beatles until I took hallucinogens.
Not so much that it made the music sound better (it did) but more from the destruction of the ego you get from tripping. I think I just had an aversion to them more as a rebellious thing. Like, I was expected to just automatically agree the Beatles were great so screw that. Fortunately tripping erased all that bullshit. Because of course, you should be expected to like the Beatles because they are great.

As for Abba, I think they've written even better pure pop songs than even the Beatles. I've encountered people who don't like them but their criticisms tend to have a tinge of homophobia about them, like they are afraid to admit they like them because of some percieved connotation. So yeah, don't trust these people.

A Midsummer Nights Dream, play within a play is quite funny but generally no real laughs for me
