Well done Jon, some very nice spots in the letters in particular, and I think that's the third highest score of the championship if I remember right, so very well done to you. Unlucky Darryl, I think this arguably may have been your strongest performance in your three games, but Jon just happened to be a little bit better.

Another great game. 92 is a pretty good score considering the (presumably scrabble valid) words Darryl had disallowed.

DAPSONE as an ALT in r2, GIRASOLE as an ALT in r11.

Was that nearly a max game from Jon? Must have been 13 or 14? Good stuff.

It was 13 maxes (he missed TOILET and OUTBIDS). Very strong performance from both of you, not sure about the shirt though, Jon. :)

Good try, Darryl but neither JOTTLE (a bottle of booze) nor PLEUROMA (a lung tumour) is valid in the current Scrabble wordlist, according to zyzzyva. :P

Indeed, a super good performance. I was well happy getting my 2nd MAX GAME of the series, even after almost messing up the first numbers..........

OPANCI in round 1.

2nd Numbers Alt.: ((75 - 9) x 5) - 7 = 323

Strong performance Jono. Also good to see Darryl get a 9 after only one nine was available in his previous 17 games.

Indeed, it was also his highest ever score too :!: Although, it was Jono's PB too. 8-)

Not really surprising that it was Darryl's highest score given that most of his games have been with nine rounds. But yeah, good game from Jono to make the quarters.

Super performance Jon! I stand by my previous statement in your first game! :D

And well played to Daryl too - was secretly hoping you'd get the conundrum for a double century!

Excellent stuff. 13 maxes? Nice. The 2 you missed I happened to pick up but you still beat me overall. Thumbs up to the shirt.

Great game that. Solid play from both contestants, Jono just that bit stronger overall. 122 is an excellent score.
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Thank you guys. Congrats on the max game James. All of my family and friends seem to have got TOILET... maybe I should've worked on spotting everyday words!

TOILET is easy to miss, but you can usually blame it on the dog.

Well done Jono, try not to beat yourself up too much over missing two common, easy-to-spot words to deny yourself a televised max. NEGRONIS was excellent btw.

GINNERS^ is a "7 that is never the maximum" as it takes all 5 vowels and only contains 2 vowels itself.

No-one's mentioned the objectively best method for the second numbers yet: 5*7*9 + 6 + 2 = 323
