Post by James Robinson »

So, we have the quarter-finals done and dusted, and those 2 nail-biters at the start of this week have just added more tension to these finals, and thanks to Nick's win yesterday, we are already guaranteed that this will be the 28th series in a row with a male winner. :ugeek:

So, our first semi-final today is not #1 v #4, as nature intended, but #1 v #5, so it's between the #1 Seed, Jonathan "The Sheffield Superkid" Rawlinson and the #5 Seed, Nick "The Stratford-Upon-Avon Shakespearean" Hall.

Here are some updated stats for you guys:

Firstly, No.1 Seed Jonathan Rawlinson - 9 Wins, 951 Points (Average: 105.67)
Highest Score: 120 vs. Stewart Calver (3rd Game)
Lowest Score: 93 vs. James Kelk (7th Game)
9's Achieved: 3/4
Total Points/Max/%: 951/1102 (86%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 632/742 (85%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 229/270 (85%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 90/90 (100%) 8-)

Secondly, No.5 Seed Nick Hall - 7 Wins, 674 Points (Average: 84.25)
Highest Score: 96 vs. Luke Spencer (6th Game)
Lowest Score: 69 vs. Catherine Johnson (7th Game)
9's Achieved: 0/7
Total Points/Max/%: 674/1022 (66%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 459/702 (65%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 165/240 (69%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 50/80 (63%)

I'll be around for the recap later. ;) :) :D

Well deserved spot in the grand final Jonathan, shame the conundrum streak had to end on a word like that. Nick certainly didn't play badly either, just happened to come up against someone as strong as you. Whether it's you vs Jack or Peter, I anticipate a good final.

Well played, Jonathan, another excellent performance. Congrats on making it to the final. 8-)

Really looking forward to tomorrow's semi, should be a very close game ( I'm not referring to the Germany vs Italy match).

Nice to see Jonathan back to near his best after a bit of a wobble last week. Well played.

Good performance, Jonathan - you never looked in danger of losing once you'd taken the lead.

Mama Steadman got the conundrum so was very proud of her :) Also, KNAVISH was there as an equaller in the HANKIES round. I think.

Yup, indeed it was. Was maxing it until I missed ALLEGROS at the end, but didn't get the conundrum either. Ah well. :)

Well done, Jonathan, the final should be a classic, whether it's Jack or Peter you'll play. :D
