Spoilers For Monday October 17th 2011

Post by James Robinson »

So, we are at the start of a new week, and might we have a new octochamp today :?:

Nikki Roberts is one step away from being the 6TH octochamp of the series, which would be pretty impressive, with there still being 7 and a half weeks to go before the finals.

In case you've forgotten what she needs to do to get what spot, here's Thomas' list of probabilities:
http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic. ... 3&start=14

Making his debut in DC this week, is someone who our survey says that this guy fits the bill, it's comedian/actor/Family Fortunes presenter, Les Dennis.

Following Ryan's immediate retirement last week, Rhys Benjamin will take over the Monday recaps from now on, so you can join him later for his take of events. 8-)

Cooh! The only way I would have got that is if I was sitting behind Chris and looking over his shoulder like I was at S64 finals. I was pleased also to get GRAVITON and got MIDLINE as an equaller in the following round.

Shame Nikki didn't make 8, but Anne seems pretty good and all the best people get 95 in their first show. Nikki - keep practising!

Unlucky on the octodom there, challenger was strong for a non-apto.

Took me about 28 seconds to see requintos and was tres curious to see if DC would have it, turns out they didn't.

Nikki had a bit of an off day but Anne played really well. It looks like she's going to be tough to beat.

Got EMULATES in one of the early rounds where DC found the nine but my performance was average today.

I'm wondering if today's contestant has been on before - http://wiki.apterous.org/Anne_Haley

I remember the name, just can't for the life of me remember what she looked like. It may explain why she seemed quite confident for a challenger.

Oh, didn't see that. Also, Jayne's qualified for sure. And the wiki only shows it up to 10 places. So there.

The wiki now has two articles on people called Anne Haley so it's probably not the same person.

The 1998 Anne Haley was from Todmorden, originally Lynemouth. Could well have returned "home" in the intervening years. If I had to guess I'd definitely go for her being the same person.

Yes, seems plausible. Unfortunately, I can't recall her from last time, even though she won a few programmes. Time for an inquest!

Well, I made the disambiguation page and it's usually best to go for 2 people, after all, that's what we did with Robbo until he clarified things :!:

But I don't think so, as although Lynemouth is in close proximity to Newcastle, which is what was said, they probably would have said Lynemouth if she was from Lynemouth.

Sorry that Nikki didn't make it to Octochamp but I hope she makes the finals. It would be nice to have two women there for a change. Ccongratulations Anne, though. Good to see a fellow Geordie doing well. (I don't count Dave as he's from Sunderland)

But what if she came from Lynemouth, moved to Todmorden, and then went to live in Newcastle? I agree that the jury's still out, though.
