Spoilers For Friday September 24th 2010

Post by James Robinson »

Well the day has come, will Eoin Monaghan become one of the youngest octochamps in Countdown's 28-year history :?:

Will he become the youngest and only the 4th person to gain 8 conescutive centuries :?: :?:

Will the boy described by the editor of the Belfast Telegraph as "unstoppable" be just that and reach octochampdom today :?: :?: :?:

Mike will tell all later. ;) :) :D

Unlucky on not breaking 900 Eoin but a fantastic run all the same. I genuinely had no idea how you did as I didn't read that article the other day and didn't want to know but figured you'd be octochamp material.

Congrats Eoin! Really enjoyed watching that, you held your nerve really well from start to finish. Finals are going to be the best ever at this rate.

Great stuff Eoin, sounds like you came across well and are probably in the small category of people who played (even) better on the show than on apterous. Hats off.

Dave Spikey was irritating me with his "I've got a 7 if I've spelt it right - AILERON" which he did on more than one occasion. And there is no way that he spotted PERPETUAL. Bullshitter.

Edit. Also we didn't appreciate Rachel's dress today. Looked like something Dorothy would wear from Wizard of fucking Oz.

wp Eoin!

One of my friends has that dress Rachel was wearing.

Very well done, Eoin. Congratulations. ;) :) :D  8-)

I so thought you'd blown your chance at the 8 centuries when you missed PERPETUAL, but then coming back in with VERMINOUS was superbly phenomenal.

The finals of Series 63 are already shaping up to be as good as Series 61, if not better.

Brilliant, Eoin! Only seen four of your games so far. Looking forward to the other four over the next few games. Finals should be great.

I can only echo what has been said. A stupendous run, Eoin. I'm really looking forward to seeing you in the finals against the likes of Scott and Daniel.

Very well played Eoin. At times you looked unstoppable. This may have already been discussed and it may also be premature, but would Eoin be the youngest series champ?

Thanks for all the comments over the past week or so guys, much appreciated. :)

You could probably tell I was wrecked by the end, missing easyish words like ALERTS and JOSTLE was so glad to get through it and to get 898 exceeded all expectations.

I must thank Charlie for all his hard work which has helped me tenfold in achieving my dream, I had the best 2 days ever over there. I cannot wait for the finals to hopefully meet everyone for the first time and Daniel of course again.

I would also like to say all my challengers were exceptionally nice and so humble and were great people to meet.

Oh yeah and SPIKES woulda got me over 900, but oh well.

But not Tom Rowell? Lol - he'll love that. Re: Dave Spikey, I agree with you Ryan - I wasn't a fan of 'if I've spelt this right, I think DIZYGOTIC might be a word' or similar.

Eoin, you can't be that thankful to Charlie as you never plugged him or the site on TV :P

If I were on the show I'd be wary of giving aptoland plug without prior permission meself and assumed this played apart in Eoin's, lets be honest, pretty funny non plug! :)

I'm not with you. I was watching and I didn't like it when Dave said that and he did it more than once. It's almost like bad acting which I dislike. What's wrong with saying that?

Yes, great stuff Eoin, you should feel proud of yourself. As others have pointed out, you came over very well on the TV and although you kept beating me to the conundrum with your lightning presses I still very much enjoyed watching your performances. Well done, sir.

I would agree to this, ANORTHITE and some of the other stuff (TAMBOTIE) put you in the top flight of Countdowners evah.
